How is the swelling post-op?

Recommended Posts

Hi, New to this site and have sooo many questions. Just got a surgery date Aug.27,2010 along with lots of emotions, mostly positive. But, I have a really wacky question. Do you need very loose clothes to go home in as result of swelling post-surgery? I'll have to travel in a car and want to be as comfortable

as possible on the way home.

Thanks, Mona:thumbup1:

Take comfy baggy clothes, especially for a car trip. I didn't have too much swelling, but my incisions were a little tender. Also take a pillow that you can press against your belly in the car, against bumps and uneven road.... Good luck

I didn't have much swelling. Noticed it on the day after surgery the most as that day I chose to stick tight and not do much, but the day following that we were out being tourists all day and I did not really notice that my clothes fit any worse, so I'd say the swelling was going down. We did a lot of walking which probably helped somewhat...but if you have elastic waist band bottoms and a flowy, loose top, you will probably appreciate wearing them on your ride home. :cool0:

Good luck!

On day two my legs swelled. I just walked as much as possible and it went away after 2 days. I checked with the surgeon and he said this was common and not to be concerned unless it became severe. I wore a really loose, empire waist, gauze summer dress to surgery because some of the incisions are waist-level and I didn't want a waistband to irritate them. That worked out well, I was very comfortable. I didn't notice any swelling in my stomach, but it's so big down there anyway I might not have noticed lol.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
