I was sleeved two days ago and all my stomach keeps doing is gurgling. I haven't had much in fluids like I should, but afraid it will make the gurgling worse if I do. Called the doctor and he said I just need to push fluids and it will slowly work itself out. I felt like a million dollars before I was released yesterday and now I feel like crap. Today was a bad day to say the least. Has anyone got any advice on how to make that go away??

Thanks

I had the same thing and I just keep drinking liquids. I was so scared of becoming dehydrated! It was a weird feeling too and I thought it might never go away, but it did after about a week as I recall. I also had "good" days and "bad" days. I think that just goes with having surgery in general.

I think its pretty normal. Mine lasted for a couple of weeks and still comes back every once in a while. I found that walking helped, maybe it just got my mind off of it. I remember I had trouble laying flat at first because the constant churning seemed to abate when I was upright. Your docs right, keep sipping and it will pass.

I was told that day 2 and 3 are typically the worst all around days following the surgery and I have to agree. Not that anything I went through was terrible but they were the most uncomfortable days. The gurgling should subside some (or maybe it just that you get used to it!!). It could be spasms from eating or your new sign of hunger. Just make sure you are really pushing the fluids. Its the most important thing for the next few weeks. Good Luck!

I gurgle all the time. It goes through the stomach and the intestines and I can tell when food/liquids are going through. Just a way of your body telling you that it is working...

I have the same thing. I'm into week 8 - I contacted my nurse, who is our 'go to' person and she said it is normal, said it is 'gas' or something like that, but it is intestinal.....anyway, she said gas X strips should work and they do. If I can remember I will take on BEFORE I eat and I will avoid it altogether. Hope this helps, it's funny, I tell my husband that it's my new tiny tummy talking to us!! LOL

Gurgling is normal. You just had major surgery, you're going to feel like crap for a while. I didnt' feel good for two weeks, although i felt fine after one week. I am four months out, and I still get gurgling on an empty stomach. I would rather be thin and gurgly than fat an silent. :))

I am 4 days out and gurgle a lot! I agree that its gas. Not really a problem now, but hopefully it quits before I have to go back to work.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
