I am 9 days post - op and so sensitive to smells. Even smells that normally would be pleasant gag me and the smell of the Protein makes it difficult to get down. I asked Gaby from Dr. Aceves' office if this was normal and she ha snot heard it from other patients.

I've also had an upper respiratory thing going on; the coughing and the amoxicilln are not helping much. Struggling with the Protein because it makes me gag.

Anyone else notice a smell sensitivity and will it go away? I feel like a bloodhound!

The smell thing is normal! I had it too and have read of several others. It passes but it takes time, and being so close out to surgery, I am so sorry that you are also sick. Stay hydrated and everything else will come along.

Take care,

Anna

Since surgery my nose is super-sensitive like a bloodhound too, I can smell things way way way before my husband can. I've had perfectly innocent smells also make me feel really nauseous.

It hasn't seemed to be as strong the last few days, but my first week was definitely smell-overload. I can smell some of my Protein drinks and it does make it difficult getting them down for me.

I was super sensitive to smells after surgery, to the point of gagging. It should go away any day now. I was fine after a week and a half. But boy, that first week was rough. Best of luck.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
