By the way richman sucks I wish I would of gone to Fremont richman says no protein drinks just eat food!

Yeah I don't really get the no protein drinks either. I figure I still will add protein powder to stuff to keep my energy up during the first two weeks. I don't want to get all tired and run down.

What does not having kids matter?? Never heard that before

Hi Mommy,

85 pounds seems like a lot to ask. I'm curious to know if SSF is making you lose the same amount, and how you're doing. Who is your surgeon, and how are you feeling now that your'e getting close? Best of luck to you!!

Darlene

I even asked Dr. Le specifically about the Richmond program not allowing protein drinks and he said they should be. He acted like maybe I had bad information or something. His words were "especially in the first couple of weeks, how else would you get enough?" I kept thinking I would take my Richmond binder in and show him, but I never did.

I know I noticed a big difference in energy and just generally well being the day I was able to start getting protein shakes in.

Don,

You totally made me laugh. I'm really glad to know that things went so well for you. I'm pretty nervous about how I will feel afterwards, and how much pain I will be in. When did you start getting your energy back?

Hi Hi Lisa Lisa,

To get sleeved, I was in the hospital for 2 nights & 3 days. I felt weak, very nauseous, and slept the whole time I was there. My surgeon almost made me stay another day because I developed a fever during the 2nd night.

On the third day I was almost feeling completely normal. I had no nausea, a little stomach pain, and slight incision tenderness. After two days at home I stopped taking the liquid pain medication. I went back to work 1 week after surgery.

Because I was feeling so great- and because I'm just a dumb guy, I decided to break the liquid diet. I experimented 3 times. I once tried scrambled eggs. I once tried a bite of toast. I once tried a small piece of chicken from a friend's lunch. Needless to say I threw-up 3 times.

Today I start stage 3 foods. Do you know where I can get a food processor that will acommodate a large King Arthur Supreme from Round Table?

I am happy that I got sleeved and have no regrets.

Talk to you soon,

Don

Hey Steph, I knew it was you!

I'm really glad we are in this together, and can't wait to get sleeved. You've done GREAT with the pre op weight loss too....really awesome!

Hello everyone!

I'm super new to this website, and started this process about a month ago. It's really great to know that there are other SSF'ers out there that are doing well! I've been going through the process pretty fast..and am meeting with Dr. Alami in a few weeks. I've noticed that a lot of you guys had him! I was wondering what your experience was like with him..? Did you guys ask him how many surgeries he has done and what his complication rate is? I know I can ask him when I meet with him..but the more info I can get..the less anxiety I will have!

Also, I've lost 15 lbs since orientation (about 3 weeks ago) and was told to lose around 20. If i do..do you think he will schedule a surgery day right away? What was your experience?

Thank you so much in advance!!

Congratulations! I've also heard that day two is the toughest, but I'm glad you had a good experience with the hospital staff, except for the creep who wouldn't give you your pain meds of course. I hope you keep posting if you're up for it and congratulations again!

Darlene

Hi everyone!

I am home and sleeved. I was also there 3 days and 2 nights. I felt GREAT the first day except for the horrible back pain on the left. The second day, I was praying for death. It was horrible. I threw up all day and had a RN that for whatever reason refused to give me meds. I have let them know about it and will be filing a complaint about him. If you go to SSF, I hope you have Ernie as your RN. He is so awesome, I can't even tell you. He is truly the reason I am home today. He spent so much time making sure I was comfortable and got past what the other one had done. Eileen and Evelyn are full of energy and are real cheerleaders. I am really happy about the over all experience.

I am really tired, and ready for bed, but I am home and have no regrets. The only problem I am having is I am afraid to eat. After throwing up all day yesterday, I am scared for a repeat. I have been drinking all day and have had lots of Water and some crystal light (apple)

I am so happy that you have appts coming up Heather! I am unbelievably excited for you! :)

Lisa, you will do great, It is so worth it!

I just got a call and they scheduled my surgery for January 5th. I'm so overwhelmed, excited, nervous, scared. Confused. Happy.

Congratulations on your surgery date. There is not a feeling you have that I could not validate...I just got my date of January 6th in SSF with Dr. Le--the day after you and I'm freaking out. After months (since July) of pre-op meal plan and loosing 38 lbs, it's finally happening. Yikes!

Congrats David. Maybe we'll meet one another there. I'll still be in the hospital as you go in for your surgery. I'm just super scared of the actual going under. I have heard Dr. Le has an excellent track record. I hope he keeps up with that streak for you and I. How much weight do you want to lose? I'm 5'2 1/2" and I started at 219. I want to get down to 130-135. I know I can do it.

Yea, he better keep up his great track record. OK crazy me was getting all paranoid yesterday thinking about Dr. Le coming off his ten day holiday vacation and forgetting how to do the sleeve. "Oooops! Is this where I cut?"

No, he'll be rested up and ready to go for our surgery. I'm sure it's like riding a bike for him.

Currently, I am 6' at 338. I was 381 in July but I droped 38 lbs on the pre-op meal plan and I've been holding steady since November. I'd like to get to 210 even though the charts say I should be at 170. That is just not right for me. I'm not Heidi Klum. I like being a bigger guy--just healthy!

No surgery for me yet--I'm still pre-op so I was able to incorporate protein shakes from the start of the Kaiser pre-op meal plan. I usually have one shake a day for either breakfast or lunch.

Went to my case manager meeting today at Richmond, and got a date! January 3rd! I'm exicted, nervous, and jsut ready to get on with it!

How soon tell you started drinking Protein shakes

I was told to start as soon as I got home from the hospital. However, I just couldn't I had to really work at just Water. I came home on day 3 and started protein on day 5. It's now day 7 and I did manage to get in 80 grams today, and all of my fluids.
