I'm Pre-op (20 more days)

Recommended Posts

Hello all! I am so excited about taking this very bold step and taking control of my life back. I will be sleeved on 6/29/10. I'm a mom of 5, married almost 18 yrs to my childhood sweet heart and have battled my weight since I was 9 years old. I'll be 39 on June 21st! Who wars for 30 years???

Anyway...I'm looking forward to any input, encouragement or tips folks are willing to share. I'm an attorney, run my own practice and homeschool my kids. So, I'm always on the computer throughout the day. So, don't be shy...stop by and say "hi"! :-) This is such an exciting time for me and for our family.

Looking forward to "meeting" all my fellow "sleevers"!

Blessings!:thumbup1:

Hello there - I'm looking to get sleeved in the next month and, like you, I'm an attorney. Because of my weight this guy who was once the scourge of courtrooms all over the American West today is embarrassed to even go near one. Yep, it's all come crashing down and now I've decided to do something about it, VSG. How did you come across this particular WLS, I"m wondering, and what kind of research have you done? Looking forward to hearing from you and wishing you all the best success when you go into surgery.:thumbup1:

Hi MsTy,

I'm in Houston and wondering who is doing your surgery? I have my first consultation with Dr. Garth Davis tomorrow. Good luck with your pre-op diet and your surgery! I hope to be counting down the days soon...

Hello to all my new friends. Yes, I am very excited about this procedure. I've been researching and "gathering info" on it for about 2 yrs now. One of my legal colleagues had the procedure 2 yrs ago and encouraged me to check it out. Since then, I've read...read.....read...and read some more! I like this option better than the lap band because I didn't really want to leave anything in my body. I like it better than the bypass because I tend to be anemic so the change in my digestion and absorbtion could cause the anemia to flare up. That being said, this is truly the best way to go for me.

I am not having surgery in the states though. As a self employed private practice attorney, I don't have health insurance. We pay for all of our medical and dental bills for the family on our own. This presented my next hurdle....how to afford the procedure. Several other colleagues suggested I look into Medical Tourism...medical procedures in other countries. I settled on a wonderful facility and doctor in Mexico. Two friends of mine in Califronia have used him and his facility and were absolutely floored by the accommodations, service, bedside manner, etc. So, with my expedited passport on the way...Yo voy al Mexico!

My husband and our 5 kids will hang out and have a mini vacation in San Diego while my best friend accompanies me to have my procedure.

I plan to share my post op journey and would love the continue to communicate with other "sleevers". Can someone please tell me how to create a weight loss ticker??? :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
