Hello All, I am in the process of getting sleeved by Dr. Robert Schuster. It is my second go around with pre-op to being sleeved. I decided to try to lose weight and go vegan for a year. The year has come and gone and I havent lost anything. I feel healthy. Anyway, I have been dealing with Banner Gateway for a little over a year. I have to say, everyone I've come in contact with has been awesome. Dr. Schuster has been very personable and I feel like he is an exceptional surgeon.

The only thing I would like more of are the support groups. I work in N. Scottsdale and it takes me over an hour to get to Gilbert after work at 5pm. The chances of fighing traffic only to get there late is slim. I know having support is key to my well being. So, I am looking for other avenues.

BTW if you are a Banner employee there is talk about the co-pay going down. As employees we have to pay a $5000.00 co-pay. It's crazy! So, hopefully it will go down. We will know next month.

I hope to get sleeved in January.

It is my understanding that only Water may be used with Protein shakes during the pre-op liquid diet. Almond milk is not listed as an option in the binder of instructions received during the three-hour class. I was told to take a very literal interpretation of the instructions and to follow them exactly. If we have any questions beyond that' date=' we should consult with someone at the Banner Bariatric Clinic and to follow the recommendations specific to our own program. Hope this helps![/quote']

I was able of speak to Donna today. She told me that as long as I can tolerate the shakes with Water, not to use Almond milk. I kinda figured that. I just needed a definitely answer. She said post op it's ok to use. She also gave me some tips about the Soup.

Dr P is my surgeon. I am scheduled for 10/1. I really like him. He is very honest and up front. That's what I need. I love the staff. The are super supportive and encouraging.

ON another note' date=' during the pre op diet phase, did you mix your Protein shakes with Water or almond milk?[/quote']

In the orientation I went through the nurse leading had us write almond milk in the margin as an optioon to mix the Protein powder with.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
