Thanks! They say my eyes are called "Norwegian Blue Eyes" because I have a dark ring around the lighter blue. And braces and a permanent retainer behind my front teeth give me a good smile. I've been so unsure about posting pictures, but I feel I know you all well enough to get over the anxiety about it.

Arcael - Sorry to hear your wrist band broke :cry But I'm proud of you that you went to the gym!!

Well, it was too cold to get into my pool today, so I had my hubby move my stationery recumbant bike out to the living room, so I could ride and watch t.v. (helps the time go by faster). I road for 30 minutes and went over 7 miles...lol. I used a program of varying levels. Felt pretty good!! Other than swimming, this is the first exercise I've done. I am looking into a Tai Chi class and having the intstructor also do some personal training with me just to get me in a routine. I'll let you know when that starts. For now, I'll do my bike and maybe some walking when it is cool here in TX.

Stephanie: You look fabulous and those pants aren't going to last much longer without falling off of you!!!

BGP and Stesti: I'll let you know when I'll be coming to town. I may be passing through around Christmas, but probably wouldn't have much time for anything...except maybe meeting for a dinner or drinks or coming to your store for the makeup session!! We usually stop in St. Louis and stay in a hotel...many times at the Drury Inn in Fenton (the newer one). I try and get the best deal with a Breakfast as there will be 6 of us. I'll keep you updated.

Stetsi, way to go on the workout! And Mary, I have a recumbant bike, too...it's great for exercising during the cold weather! I have it in my former office with a tv, too, to make the time go by faster. My knees can't handle much walking, as in outside, so I opt for the bike. As long as we're moving, that's all that matters, right?

Yes, my pants are a tad baggy - I have new "real" pants in a drawer. I tried them on yesterday again. They fit and I can get them on, but I don't like how they feel when I sit in them yet. I'll try again in a week or so.

I'm off to work - have a great day everyone!

Thanks for asking about me :) , well my strep infection has spread into the soft tissues in my neck/face so now my jaw is stuck/locked. I can only open my mouth about a 1/2 inch. Ugh Im going back to the doctor again today. I don't know if I'll be on steroids or what. Definitely more antibiotics. I'll keep you updated.

Stephanie, I can totally see the weight loss! Way to go. In your most recent pic its remarkable how your shape is showing. Ohh lala, you better watch out lol your husband is going to be chasing you around!! And I agree with what everyone else has said too, you are sooo pretty, pretty eyes, smile, the works.

LOL michelle, aka sausage queen.

OMG Stephanie,

Wow you can really see the weight loss in your pics, you look so gooooood. I can't believe the difference, and you can really see it in your face. I haven't took any pics yet, maybe I need too, maybe if I looked as good as you I would really feel like I've done something. I have lost 40 but I can't tell it one bit. Oh well, maybe in another 40. You sure look good.

Hey I went to the Y today with my mom and I didn't like either one of the bikes they had there. I really want to try a recumbent bike. You that said you had one do you like it. I heard that they hurt your back. I don't have any back problems but my hubby does. I would like to get one but I don't know what kind to get. My hubby is an ebayer so we would probably look there first. Where do you guys get yours?

Kari- Girl hang in there. Prayers are going up for you today.

Beth: I really like the recumbent bike. I haven't heard anything about them bothering one's back. I think most regular stationary bikes end up being clothes hangers. Many of them have small seats that hurt the behind, so people don't last much on them. At least that was my experience in the past and several others that I know. I invested in a very good recumbent one, as I've had a couple of knee surgeries and my doc recommended the bike over walking. This is probably due to me carrying so much weight on my body and that being hard on the knees (walking). The brand name on my bike is Diamondback and it's a very good one. It wasn't cheap, but if you can find one on ebay, I'd recommend it.

Thanks Mary. Hey I posted a reply on the yahoo group page but now I can't find it to see if anyone posted anything to me. I also tried to start a new post asking for people in FOrt Worth but I don't know how to find out if anyone answered it. I guess it is still too new for my. Well I am off to ebay to look at bikes. See ya.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
