Answers to questions:

1. Absolutely not!!!! I am very protective of that number and only my doctor knows how much I weigh.

2. My most embarrassing fat moment is when I was laying naked on a blanket with my boyfriend (candles, music...) and he told me that he liked me alot but would really like it if there was less of me. He felt that our intimacy would be better if I was smaller. I was beyond mortified and cried my heart out. He backtracked and took everything back but it was out there. In retrospect, I should have kicked his not skinny ass out the door but I didn't.

In April I finally broke up with this man. I packed up the things he had at my place, threw them in 2 Hefty bags and left them at his door. Needless to say he was quite shocked and I refuse to look back!!!

Stesti:

I say good riddance. Best weight you probably got rid of was HIM!!! BF's can be weird. My college love used to want me just a "little" thinner and then ended up with someone twice my size. Creeps.

You go girl!!

LOLOLOL He so deserves it. Thanks for all your support everyone. I hesitated to put it in writing but why not tell the truth and get it out there. He's the insensitive fool, not me. Love the sassiness Michelle. It sparks things up around here!

I've lost 38 pounds and told myself that I would consider dating again at 50 pounds. Dating again?....sooo scary.

I notice that exercise does more than poundage shed. My pants feel loser every day that I exercise even when the scale does not move. The jeans that Im wearing in the second picture I couldn't even get buttoned preband. Yayy.

karik - awesome pix - if you look that good after 18 wait until 50!

michelle - omg! i really had to laugh cuz my hubby and i got an invitation to a wedding several years ago that actually said...wait, i'm laughing uncontrollably...no pastels and no farm animals! lololololol! well, he was in the air force at the time with the groom and if you know anything about enlisted personnel, they are warped! so a bunch of us went to the sex toy store and bought a blow up sheep, inflated it and tied a pink bow on it and placed it in their honeymoon suite! are we great friends to have?!?

stetsi - date now! if they don't like you the way you are now, you may ot like them in the future cuz what does it say about their soul? i'd date now, unfortunately i'm married. do you want mine? i'm ready to trade him in for an upgrade! lol!

You Guys are soooooooooo funny!!!! I look forward to the humor. Michelle, that is one of the funniest pictures. Having taught in the depths of south Georgia (before my husband saved me from spinster-hood) people would try to set me up with numerous toothless and brainless men. No matter if they were only tall enough to see my knee caps. I think this picture must feature one of them.

The fill was weird but little pain and yes, I heard that cherry pop baby and was it odd. I said to my cute little surgeon "oooh the cherry popped. He looked at me like I had stripped naked and said very clinically that was the scar tissue". He puts 11ccs in all of his patients because he said he has found they erode less. So I ended up with a fill of 4ccs. The worse part was the barium but yes, it was way cool to watch it go through the band into my very large stomach. You'll do fine Michelle....it lasted maybe 15 minutes.

Stesi- you get yourself out there and date girlfriend. What did Auntie Mame say? "Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death". I agree with Dezadoo....if they like you they like you. Say you wait and they fall in love with you thinner and you marry him and get prego and he turns Elvis on you and won't touch because you have gained weight (well, Elvis' thing was a Madonna complex but it sounded good). Plueeeeeeze....kick that to the curb with toothless from the rug. Get out there, get on to a chat room or do match.com. Run Forrest, run.

Kari- you HAD to be a cheerleader because you definitely have those pretty cheer legs!!!! You look great.

Hey and I am also with Michelle.....love all you July girls!!!!

Ruthie (filled with saline and a clear liquid diet)

Well guys I made it through another day. Still not feeling all that great but better than yesterday. My hubby was sick today as well. He stayed home. I mostly took it easy today. Tomorrow I have to go to the store before I start eating cardboard (I don't think that it would go down very well). I am out of everything. Well I have enjoyed reading all that you guys have written the past couple of days. You guys are the best friends anyone could ever have. I have to go now to go to bed but I hope you all have a good night and a wonderful day tomorrow.

Step- How was your first day of school?

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
