I knew something was going to happen

Recommended Posts

Last evening, after visiting the chat room, I got up from my recliner and could barely walk. The right knee felt very weak and had significant pain. Oh S--t, I think I developed a DVT sitting in one position too long. Now what? With my surgery scheduled tomorrow I am worried it will be canceled by my surgeon. I will give him a call and see if he can get me in for an ultrasound this morning. I obviously hope it is not a blood clot, but I can not figure what else it could be except maybe arthritis, from being off NASIDS. I had a premonition that something was going to stop my surgery. I hope I am wrong. Has anyone else had DVT in the leg?

Jerry

I haven't had a DVT or problems with arthritis, but I have had unexplained pain in my knees and legs that made it difficult to walk for short periods of time. I hope this is something that passes quickly and that you are still able to have your surgery! Let us know what happens.

Jerry! Don't think the worst!

It's probably nothing.....have you ever had any problems with DVT before?

Jerry, does it get better or feel to "loosen up" as you walk on it? Or does the pain remain constant? Usually if it's still when you first get up and it 'loosens up', that is arthritis or possibly ligament pain. I hope everything turns out to be fine for you.. please let us know!

Jerry! I hope it isn't anything serious and your surgery can continue as planned. It would be so disappointing to cancel.

Looked to see how far Daphne is from Dothan ... hmmm, about as far away as possible without being in the next state! LOL I will be in Dothan next month but will be traveling between Birmingham and Dothan.

Keep us posted! I hope you are able to continue as planned.

Hi, I have actually had a DVT as a result of being in a wheelchair after shattering my leg years ago. I did have pain it was right behind my knee. It didn't hurt to move it though and actually would get some relief once i moved it around. Once it let loose it went to my lungs and I had extreme pains I mean EXTREME pains where I couldn't even breathe in my chest. It felt like a heartattack. Along with the pain came a feeling of impending doom. That was once the clot dislodged. I'd go get it checked out even if it risks delaying your surgery. Best of luck.

Thanks for all the replys. I had to do a pulmonary function test today at the hospital, so I went by my surgeons office first, and gave him my signs and symptoms. He examined my legs, then referred me for an ultrasound. Great news I do not have a blood clot. So the surgery is still on for tomorrow.

Bad news is I don't know what is causing the pain (which does not get better with walking). I assume it will eventually get better. I am glad I did the correct thing for my and the surgeons sake.

Move over on the losers bench!

JERRY:biggrin2:

So very glad to hear there was no clot, and that surgery is still on for tomorrow.

Is the pain like a pinched nerve kind of pain? I would get a shooting, numbing pain down my left leg before I lost weight then my muscle would cramp up like a charlie horse.

I second Tiffykins post. It's very common to get some numbness and weakness if you get swelling around a nerve cluster. I know this from experience; I had hand surgery a while back and had to be VERY careful to avoid exacerbating my carpal tunnel syndrome when doing the required rehab exercises.

I think DVT's are extremely painful, too. I don't think it's just numbness and weakness. I could be wrong -- I'm no doctor :scared0:

Congratulations on being able to move forward with your surgery! Great news that you don't have a blood clot. Hopefully, as you hop onto the loser's bench, whatever is causing the pain will resolve on its own!

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and when I don't take my NSAIDS my symptoms get worse for sure. Hopefully once we lost his weight the pain will decrease without meds!:scared0:

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
