9 month post-op update

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! I just thought I'd share an update since I had my 9-month follow up appointment last week.

My surgeon is very pleased with my progress so far. I've lost 109 pounds in 9 months, and he said that's awesome for a sleever to do in even 12 months! All my labs checked out great and I had a discussion with him about becoming pregnant after I reach goal. He's all for it. :confused1:

I'm kind of in a stall right now, but mostly because I haven't been exercising. I'm determined to lose as much as I can this summer while out of school, so I joined a gym this week and am excited about going to classes with friends.

The Dr said I would just have to concentrate on cardio and good food choices to get to goal.

I don't have my measurements with me right now, but here's what I do know:

Pre-op weight: 351, BMI 46.3

Current weight: 243, BMI 32.1

I'm 6'1" and my personal goal is to weigh 190 and I'm hopeful I will get there this year. My surgeon told me to just get to 210 and then decide if I want to lose any more, but I really want to see a 1 as the first number in my weight!

I am so happy with my sleeve. It has improved my attitude, my marriage, and it's just been the best decision I've made for myself in my 32 years of life.

That is amazing!! Congratulations on your awesome success!

What kind of exercise have you done throughout these 9 months?

How much can you eat now as opposed to the first month or so?

I mostly have been exercising at home. Until this week, I was not a member of a gym (just started group fitness yesterday), so I did a lot of walking/jogging with my dog outside. I also did some DVD workouts...Zumba (way fun), Jillian Michaels (I have 3 of hers), and that's about it. Now I'm going to the gym and yesterday I worked harder in class than I ever did on my own at home.

I feel like I can eat A LOT more than I did right after surgery. But, I eat between 4-5 oz now depending on what it is I'm eating.

I second the photos request  I think it's great how well you are doing and you have the right attitude... planning to do what you need to do to get to goal. Congrats, you are truly a success.

You're so awesome ! ! ! I love your determination, and attitude. We need new pictures woman. . .
You are too sweet! I don't have any recent pics, but let me see if I can find something. Since I haven't lost but about 2 pounds in the past few weeks, I think I might have something....I will post something new to my album in a few.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
