I had my surgery on monday march 8th. I went home the 9th. I have no hunger at all even now. i make myself eat. My stomach gurggles after everything that i put in it. It can sometimes be painful. Is this normal? I also feel sick when I even think about Jello or broth. I just want to be better. I really hope I am ok. Im tired all of the time. Sometimes I have blurred vision when trying to read something. Any help would be great! Thanks.:)

i had that painful gurgling too, so i think it's normal. it does get better after a few days. simply walking around the house would also help and speed things up.

i can't tell you anything about your blurry vision though...

I never had any problems with gas, hiccups, nothing! And I had "head hunger" in the very beggining........... but now that too is gone.

Thats the wonderful thing about the sleeve!! I am a year out and still have no hunger!!

I LOVE that part of it!!

You are very early out and it is normal although others may not share the same feeling. I had a mixed bag. Most food repulsed me but not everything. I couldn't even drink plain water! To this day I need to dilute Vitamin Water in order to get my water/liquid in. Before the surgery I was able to drink a variety of flavors after surgery only one, Tropical Citrus, and now 6mo. out, I can add another Peach mango. It takes time for your body/brain to adjust. I don't know about the blurred vision but I would talk to your doctor about that.

I sure hope you are trying to get all your fluids in. Sometimes a sign of dehydration is vision problems. Please Please Please make sure you are getting your fluids! I know it is very difficult but always have a water bottle or Vitamin Water with you and sip, sip sip! I too just got my sleeve on Monday and I am doing very well. I have to make a decision to eat cause I don't feel hungry. And you probably never will feel hungry because the ghrelin which tells your brain that you are hungry has been removed.

I also had my surgery on 3/8 and I'm finding it very difficult to get in the required liquids and Proteins. I have absolutely no hunger, but I'm made myself eat a little just for the calories. My doctor does things differently than most and wants me to take a bite of something every 3 hours. It's so hard to drink just 1oz of Fluid when I feel like I'm stuffed and there couldn't possibly be room for anything else. I'm not regretting my sleeve, but I sure hope this is swelling will pass with time!!!

I've also had the gurgling from time to time, and I think it means I need some food!

Feel free to pm me if you want to chat since we are sleeve sisters!!:)

Thank you all I was worried about what is normal. I feel better now and am going to try to eat no matter how gross it sounds. I hope I can figure out when to eat and how much. Im a wimp when it comes to pain :scared0: I wish you all the best of luck! I love to hear about others and what they are going through as well. :)

Try no sugar added fruit popsicles (25 calories). They work great in the clear stage. I personally didn't have pain when sipping slowly, but I really forced myself to get in 32 oz by day 4 so that I could move to 64 oz on day 5 as required by my plan. Everyone is right, you'll feel so much better if you can hydrate. I immediately had more energy when I was getting in fluids. The popsicles were cold and felt great to my swollen sleeve. They each are 2 oz of fluids so I'd put the sticks in a glass and add them up at the end of the day. I found that I loved Sobe Lifewater 0 calorie in the fugi apple pear flavor. The pomegranate was too sweet for me. The Lifewater is 0 calorie but has around 15 carbs per 20 ounces and I found the carbs helpful in giving me some energy. Find what you like and then focus on that.

Today at three weeks out I can gulp tea or Water with no problems.

You probably won't get all your calories and Protein in the first week or two after surgery. Don't stress it - just make sure you keep hydrated. Dehydration can contribute to getting a kidney stone, for instance: I recently had one, and it was pretty painful. Good luck with recovery!

I had surgery on 3/9 and experienced similar issues. Although I was not able to keep anything done and was constantly dry heaving. Due to the concern of vomiting and not being able to keep fluids down (even ice chips), they admitted me to the hospital. I also had blurred vision which finally went away yesterday. I am feeling 100% better but am still a bit weak. I have the gurgling as well. The doctor sent me home with Prevast...which seems to help.

Wednesday 3/10 was my date. Could not get much Water down Thurs nor Friday. Took all day to get a 16oz bottle down. Finally today I seemed to open up. Drinking like a Kennedy today. On bottle #4. Dehydration will sure bluur your vision.

Cant say I have had any hunger yet. I'm sure every day gets better..

I feel much better today. I always have a huge glass of Water with me at all times. Im just not always thirsty. I had some Soup today which stayed with me. I guess I should just plan on taking small sips every 15 minutes. I am not sure how much water I get everyday. I am excited for these first few weeks to be over. I go back to work monday and hope I can do it. :scared0:

I still can't drink plain Water so I stick with Vitamin water and I mix each bottle with water 50/50 so I get 2 bottles for the price of one. It is still the only way I can get in the fluids. My favorite is the Citrus punch or Tropical Citrus..it's deep yellow in color.

I had my surgery this past Monday as well. I have been keeping something to drink with me at all times and I am actually now able to drink about 50oz in a day. My issue is getting in all the Protein. I just can't seem to get it all in and it seems as though I am having some issues digesting it. I have already had to take 3 immodium today. I certainly don't want to loose the liquid I am trying so hard to intake. My stomach also still gurgles with everything I intake and I occasionally get sharp pains from the gas still stuck inside the tube. I do really well with warm liquids and absolutely love broths. I also really like to mix my protein with Powerade zero. I have found that I also don't have much tolerence for plain Water anymore and I loved to drink water prior to surgery. I am having some head hunger. There are some foods that my head is really craving but I just try to stay busy or walk, so I don't think about it.

Please contact your doctor to be sure you are back on track. If you're dehydrated you might need an IV to build your Fluid levels up. Going back to work might push you over the edge. You don't want to fall out and be taken off in an ambulance when you could just drive yourself to doctor's office if necessary. Take care of yourself and let us know how you're doing.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
