700 sleeves and no leaks

A poster on the OH site asked me to prove that my surgeon, Dr Aceves, has had no leaks. I emailed Gaby at his office to ask if it is still true that he has done over 700 VSGs with no leaks...here is her reply:

"yes, you are correctthanks for recommending us

We are aware that Dr. Aceves is way ahead of the statistics right now and we know this situation of never having a leak will eventually change but right now this is the case, he has never had a leak with a sleeve surgery to date.

It is also important to mention that early on he did deal with a couple of leaks in bypass surgeries so he knows how to take care of them in case that it did happen.

Knowing that leaks are a possibility is the reason we do 3 leak tests and keep patients at the hospital for recovery. "

SO, there are the facts...those of you who are still researching, I highly recommend that you consider him. By the way, I have never received anything in exchange for recommending him. I just know a good thing when I see it. I don't know of any other program where you stay in the hospital for 4 days after surgery. The care is outstanding and Dr Aceves' credentials are impeccable.

I too am another satisifed patient of Dr. Aceves. I had my surgery the same time as CYates. My fiance, Beardeditalian had his one month after me, he was so impressed with Dr. Aceves, his staff and the care and testing I received. We would go back to him in a heartbeat - in fact, I may have to have my gallbladder out and have tossed the idea around of having Dr. Aceves do it ... only thing is, my insurance will cover it here in the US so it wouldn't be cost effective to travel to Mexicali; however, if that weren't the issue, I'd go to Dr. Aceves without hestitation - I know I won't get the same great care here in the US as I got in Mexico. I have worked in a law firm doing med mal insurance - both defense and plaintiff and I see all the things that can go wrong, along with the carelessness and lack of caring of the hospital staff.

I had my sleeve sugery with Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos on March 1 and would recommend them most certainly. My hospital experience was wonderful, much better than anything I've ever had in Canada or the US. Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos were both just fantastic as was all the staff, and the hospital Almater is super-clean.

You can't put a price on your safety and when you have surgery you are so vulnerable. I think people who go to lesser facilities and less qualified physicians to save money over look this fact, unfortunately often to their detriment.

Dr. Aceves has now done over 900 surgeries with no leaks!! I paid $8750 for my sleeve and it was worth every dollar! He is such a great surgeon and a great guy as well. He told me that when he is not in surgery and away from the practice he feels "lost" This is definetly his calling and he says over and over I stand on my own two feet and that his reputation may be great but if you want to hear his faults just ask his wife. lol I cracked up when he said that because no one person is perfect but he is an amazing surgeon. I had my surgery on March 18th, I had great care, the facility was beautiful and I came home with energy and no need for pain meds. I love Dr. Aceves!

isn't it great! Everyone loves Dr. Aceves! How could we not?

I am so happy to read this today. I leave tomm. and have my surgery on Friday with Dr.Aceves. I have never heard anything negative about him or his staff. I know the price this month is $8750.00 for the sleeve surgery. This is such a wonderful place to come for imformation and everyone who posts on here seem so nice and helpfull!
