I was banded on 3/1 this year, and for the first week or so I kept telling my sister, who lives with me, that I felt like I had to learn how to burp again because it just wouldn't come up. I understand that for some people the gas goes up, others it goes down, mine ultimately went down, which was a little disgusting at times, but sure felt better when it had passed. So, from my own experience, it's normal to feel this way right after surgery.

I found that by sleeping in my recliner at night the gas wasn't as bad, not sure why, but it helped me a lot. Lying on my back or side just wasn't comfortable. Felt like I had a big bubble just rolling around inside, nowhere to go.

Interesting what life brings us as a challenge, hey?

I'm tellin' ya!!! I do have the "other" gas - it does help some of the pressure, but every now and then I feel as if my chest is going to explode if I don't just burp!! A couple of times I caught myself swallowing air to try to get myself to burp - it just made it worse!!!! I think I still have some gas buildup from the surgery and it's pushing on my diaphragm....at least I hope that's what it is!!!

I was banded on 4-2-04 so I am newly banded also. I had read somewhere in all my research about Mylicon liquid for babies for gas it I think it is the best. Gas X did not do it for me. I take it after I eat and also in the middle of the night when gas (stabbing

pains in my ribs!) was a concern. I plan on having it around at all times. I is pure simethicone just like Gas X but it works really fast

for me anyway.

Good Luck and Happy Banding.

I was banded on April 6th and I also experienced the gas in my diaphram. I felt like I had to burp but couldn't..it has now been 12 days since surgery and everyday gets better and better. I have lost 14 pounds and could not be happier. Gas X did not work for me. My gas did not start until I was home from the hospital 3 days after my surgery. Now I'm able to burp, not as well as before being banded but I get relief.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
