Sensations in eating feeling unnatural and unpleasant still!

Recommended Posts

Lan-

I just had my Thanksgiving dinner today- both me and my son had to work and my youngest is in east TN. But I had to cook... I always do. And even tho he's 28 my son was really wanting it.

How do you cook "small" was my first question to myself... it didn't happen... got enough here to feed this whole community of VSG'ers LOL

Second- I couldn't eat... didn't even want to. They all know my situation- so there was no fuss over it... but it was just nice to have everyone around.

So my answer to you is yes... go.. be social- just don't make a fuss over it. If you can eat- GREAT!!! But if you can't, just enjoy everyones company, and don't fret about it. Don't let the others if they have something to say about you not eating get you down. Just smile and say you ate earlier and aren't hungry. Whatever, just don't let it consume you.

I do have to add...... I NEVER have an appetite. does anyone else? I just know I have to eat 3 times a day, and I try. Thats why I get frustrated with not getting under 200. But I am still struggleing with the "chocolate" slide food/ doesn't hurt me... doesn't make me full...... but makes it worse to even eat real food!

I never really get hungry either. I've also never had a "full" feeling like pre-op. I feel like it's time to stop, but not because I'm full - it's usually because I've started burping.

I'm struggling with the same thing but only occasionally (6 wks post VGS). What I've noticed is that chewing for a long time really helps - it seems to take the air out of foods like salads etc. that otherwise cause severe burping for me. I have problems with chicken and yes, meatballs, it's such a compact food that it seems to settle in the stomach forever. Mushroom in any form seems to make my stomach boil and cause discomfort. For me, it's easiest to eat while watching TV or reading or even talking on the phone (I know, contrary to all the nutrition lectures) because then I can take a bite, put the plate down, chew for a ridiculously long time (at least 30 times) and then wait a couple of minutes before the next bite.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
