Dr. Aceves Gastric Sleeve Surgery Information

Since so many of you have asked me for Dr. Aceves' post-op diet as well as what to bring to the hospital -- I decided I'd post all the information here for you to refer too as needed. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. However, I think these lists do a pretty good job.

REMINDERS:

Do not eat on your arrival day. You may have a light Breakfast before you leave home but remember that your pre-op testing will be done the same day that you arrive to San Diego . You need to be fasting 6 hours before your tests, Water is OK to have. After the tests you may have something to eat.

For those of you who are flying be sure to travel light as you do not want to have to carry a heavy bag on the return trip, especially if coming alone, wheels on luggage are strongly advised. The storage space in our van is also limited so we would really appreciate it if you limited your luggage.

It is Very Important for you to bring the appropriate documentation for re-entering the US on your way back -BRING YOUR PASSPORT.

Finally per our patient information guide, our driver arrives at the airport around 10:30 am, if you flight arrives earlier please wait for him at the baggage claim area for you flight. He will be there with a sign with your name on it. Bring our 888 344 3916 number with you.

I am sure you're smarter than me to make sure you call them ahead of time to see if they are going to be there.I was not able to have my tests because I did not realize that the entire staff takes off one week every month. It was the only week I could get off work, but it did not work out with their schedule, so I was not able to go to Mexicali and have my tests.

WOW! One week every month! I wish I worked there!:001_smile:

The information gets asked for daily, and it would be easier to find if it were sticky'd.

Thanks.

Once a month, Dr. Aceves has Saturday follow-up appointments with transportation from the SD airport. The cost is $150 for the lab tests, nothing for Dr. Aceves or for the transportation. I've already scheduled for August.

Hi Vegas, Your information is so very helpful to all of us. I do have a question, are the fruit punch protien shots acceptable for the clear liquid stage of the post op diet? Just wondering????????????

Can you see your hand through it? If it were in a glass could you see your hand on the other side? That is a clear. It doesn't have to be clear as in plain Water, but it needs to be thin enough that you can see through it obstructed at least.

Just for general information....I'm on clears for 10 days because of all of the extra scar tissue from my band.

Had this saved from when I first started researching Dr Aceves and since my surgery is Friday and Im leaving in just 9 hours (YIKES) thought I'd give it a bump!

Thanks so much for all of this information!! Much appreciated!

I'm wondering.... Shouldn't we be concerned with chemicals in artificial sweetners such as Aspartame? I try to stay away from everything sugar free unless it has Stevia or Xylitol or something. Unfortunately, I've brought sugar back into my diet in the past few years but after learning about the dangers of chemical sweetners.... I know sugar is horrible for you but when the popular alternative is a neuro toxin I figured I'd take my chances with sugar. Now I need to figure out a way to eliminate it from my diet all together.
