Hi,

It's official. I get to become a sleeve sister with Dr. Aceves' assistance on Oct 30. Yes, I will be out of the Fat girl costume by the following halloween. Maybe next year I can go as Lady Godiva! I am so excited. My friend, Linda, a cardiac nurse is going with me. She is my support system. Although her husband Pete is not too sure about the two of us going to Mexico, he supports my decision to have the surgery. I have no fears. Been researching this for years, so it is so thrilling to have everything falling into place finally.:tongue2:

That is great news Norma! I am happy for you! Oct. will be here before you know it.

I hope Judy is able to get her sleeve in Oct. so the two of you can possibly be there together.

Congratulations, Norma. Originally my 77 year old mother was going to go with me, because my husband had just started a new job and had no vacation time. He was really worried about us traveling to Mexico as well, so ended up taking the time off without pay. He was pleasantly surprised when we got there, as Mexicali really is one of the safer areas. Plus, if you do like we did and stay at the hotel for dinner and don't go out wandering around much, you will be fine. In the end, I am glad my hubby went though, I needed him with me.

Congrats on getting your date, you will love having a friend with you. I was so glad VAngel and Bearded was with me. I dont want to think about what it would have been like without them.

Norma, I'm so happy that you have your date. I wish I could get mine on the same day. Last year we had fall break late in Oct.. I found out today that it is going to be the first week of Oct.. Well we could be Halloween sleeve sisters. Judy

Too bad you can't take the same time off that I have. I am getting excited as I have never gotten this far before. I have figured out the financing but still have to earn another 3,000 before Oct. I applied for the passport today. I am just getting the card since I don't expect to fly into Mexico. My photo was a lot better than my driver's license one. I got the tickets and since my friend had a voucher, only had to pay $110 total.:001_tongue::thumbup1::thumbup1:

We applied for the passport card too. Our tickets will cost 450. if I book them now. You got a good deal on your tickets. We will have a 6 and 1/2 hour flight.

Can you change your surgery to the first of the month? I have some sick days that I could use but I hate to do that to the teacher I work with. I have 3 special needs children in my kindergarten class this year and I don't like to leave them with a sub. Did you get the special price at Dr. Aceves hospital? That would help alot. Judy

I can't change my date as they have no openings in the early part of the month and my friend can't get off then. I will just have to let you be first and watch and learn from your experience. I am paying $9000.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
