June 2006 Band Crew

Recommended Posts

Hello Junebies,

I have not posted in a long time - just busy with work, work, work!!! I am happy with my progress. It has been slow and fairly steady. No big problems with the Band.

I am now "Shopping the back of the Closet". Stuff I could never get rid of and now it fits again! That's a good feeling. I get around a bit better too!

Best to all of you :myscared:

Terry

Pinky -it's easy to get down sometimes; early memories for me is the amazement of buttoning pants I couldn't even get over my hips before! and pride in getting all my Protein in :myscared: so i'm going to try to find the small wins this week besides keeping my exercise challenge.

My new motivation is that a group of people I went to elementary school with are planning a reunion. I went to Catholic school, so I spent 1st-8th grade with basically the same core group of kids. They are looking at May or June, so besides have to impress my fellow Junebies in Vegas, I have them to contend with! That should keep my hand out of the cookie jar(or the Chinese restaurant as was the case yesterday!) I'm starting my 5 weeks of Medifast, so that better kick start my butt. I am also getting a fill this week or next, so that should help too. And of course ranting on LBT is thed best release of all! Keep those scales moving down June Crew!

Good Evening Junbies!!! Well I have had no sweets today and I have journaled everything. I will be exercising tonight. I remember how it was in the beginning....scared to eat something because you didnt know how the band would react to it....the first time i was able to sit at my kitchen table in the chairs with the arms on them and was able to fit comfortably and crossing my legs and being able to walk in Walmart for more than 1/2 an hour. Seemed easier back then. I have my mind made up and i am moving forward "NO MORE" negative talk. I hope we can all move forward together and be on the losing side again so we can reach our goals!! Good Luck to everyone!!!!!

The band just reminded me I had one! I can't believe that I've just come through a PB episode. I've never had one outside of reaction to a fill. I think I just got lazy and didn't chew my veggies. Oh the sweet pain. Now back to liquids for a day or two. That should help with my weight loss. :)

I'll start back with Curves after work tomorrow. They should be all moved into the new facility. I'm going to try and go 4 nights since I'll be gone for the weekend.

I've received the checks for Celine. I will order some tickets tomorrow for those that wanted tickets. We can get more tickets as more want them. I'm looking forward to our reunion and hope to be in onederland by then.

Hi Everyone!

I just spent time catching up on all the posts of the past several days. I've been out of town and out of touch.

First, my step daughter and grandson live in Enterprise, AL. He is in middle school and was about two miles from the tornado. They are still without power but no other problems. I am so thankful for their safety. My husband could never have dealt with anything bad happening to them.

Everyone on here seems to be getting back on track, at least mentally. The weight losses can't be far behind.

Melissa, I am so happy for your step into onederland. Congratulations! So many exciting things happening for you right now. I am keeping your Dad in my thoughts and prayers.

Pinkylee, have you looked in the mirror lately? I know we adjust to our new bodies quickly but don't forget how awesome you look and how far you have come. Quit beating yourself up, you rock girl!

Glad to see some old "faces" back on here. It's good to hear from everyone every once in awhile. Sure wish more of you were coming to the bandaversary celebration in Vegas. It's not too late to make your reservations. We are going to have an awesome time.

I have been at this same weight since Christmas. I've been bouncing from 194-196. I really, really want to see the 180's. That would be so motivating. I am really going to get back on track this coming week. I wish one of you lived close by me. I'd love to have someone to workout with. I really like Curves but I need motivation to get my butt out of the house to go. When I went to work everyday it was easier to stop on my way home but to get dressed and go out seems like such a challenge for me. I have been doing better on the treadmill. I'm enjoying my new iPod and have lots of motivational self help recordings..........and some rockin tunes too.

Looking forward to a new week and new goals.

Thanks for all the congrats to onderland. It is a great feeling to have seen 199 on the scale.

I need to clean out my closet too. I haven't had time. Since I will be moving, I hope to do the closet clean during that time.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers for my dad. He's still the same, stable, but has a long way to go.

Well, back to the books for me for my home study.

Talk to you all later.

Melissa

Also, I was doing some reading and found this interesting..it's geared towards those 7-12 months out (that be we...)

Stallers

What happened? Do you feel as if the wheels fell off your car while you were cruising the freeway? One minute you’re losing 10 pounds a week and suddenly you haven’t lost a single pound in an entire month! Relax… welcome to what everyone calls a ‘plateau’. After dropping a large amount of weight your body is trying to preserve it's comfortable blanket of fat and is doing what it can to stop the massive weight loss.

This is where all the old self doubt creeps in, and we jump to the conclusion that we are going to be the only one who doesn’t lose weight with this surgery. Don’t worry, if you keep on track, getting in plenty of Protein, keeping your carb count low, and drinking copious amounts of Water to flush your body, you will continue to lose, albeit in smaller but still steady amounts over the next months. Every little bit adds to your total and gets you closer to goal. My surgeon makes it clear that the first hundred pounds is his job, but the rest is up to us.

Now is where that plan for high protein, low carbs, and Vitamins comes into play. You were supposed to initiate a change in your relationship with food during the last phase, but you can regroup now and pick up the pace. Calculate your protein needs; you need roughly a little more than half a gram of protein per pound of ideal body weight. A woman who should weight about 145 pounds needs about 83 grams of protein a day to maintain good health. (The actual calculation is 'Ideal Weight' ÷ 2.2 × 1.25grams of protein = Protein Needs). If you can’t physically eat this much protein, which would entail eating 10-12 ounces of chicken, fish, eggs or cheese a day, you will need to find protein supplements that you like in order to give yourself that protein boost. If you go for months without adequate protein you will get very tired, have little energy and experience extended Hair loss. Stick to your plan and the weight will slowly start to come off again and you will begin to feel strong and very much in control.

Now is also a great time to start moving around and getting some exercise if you didn’t bother while you were losing quickly and it all seemed a bit too easy. Your body can move more freely after dropping such a large amount of weight, and getting your metabolism up and running will increase your weight loss and make you even stronger.

What a great bit of info Aimee! Gives me hope that this slow down isn't permanent.

I'm doing better "cheating" on fruit. Allergies bring me to my limit on intake quicker than I like. Even mushies if not eaten slow are getting stuck for a moment.

Barbara12 - Thanks for encouragement. So happy your stepkids are ok!

I quit worrying about how long something will fit and finally got a few spring things to wear. I'm pretty good at shrinking stuff and the alterations lady at the cleaners has taken in several things (even jeans). I have some size 18 capris that I love that are now a 14.

DS is home from his new job and looking for a place of his own. Yeah! Gotta go!

Sounds like in our own ways we are making adjustments and changes. I've been to curves twice this week. Yeah for me. I'm drinking even more Water, but I must say my appetite is great. I'm hungrier now than ever before. I always want something to eat. My stomach growls and I'm really hungry. Not sure what that is all about.

We are going to Vegas in June so the conference won't be there then. With all of the Junebie knowledge we all probably could put it on!

It's never too late to join us in Vegas for the reunion. Keep the weekend on your calendars. You never know what might happen that will allow you to join us.

God forbid, the only way I can join you is if my wedding gets cancelled :)

Hi all ! Nothing new weight wise to report yet:phanvan.

I went to the open house tour of the school I want to register my son for kindergraten in this morning.( Registration is March 19th!).

The school is so nice and on the different floors of the school are inspirational sayings in the hallways. Some that I thought were nice to share and apply to us are:

"TRIES ARE CHANCES TO ACHIEVE"!

"BEGINNING A TASK IS THE FASTEST WAY OF GETTING IT DONE"!

How nice these sayings are! I think I will try to start my day off with them.

Love and hugs,

Lisa

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
