June 2006 Band Crew

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm another june bander. My surgery is June 16th. I was supposed to have it july3rd, but the office called Mon. morning and moved it up. They called right before my lunch break, and boy was that tough. I had only had a bagel that morning. My Dr. requires a 2 week liquid diet before surgery. I still only got 11 days, but who's complaining. This time next year I'll be wearing a swim suit. Good luck to everyone. I have learned to dare to hope.

I made my decision, but I read the forums about PBs, slimes, erosion, unfills, etc. and I get FREAKED OUT! I am not the freak out type either. For all the negative posts, there are good posts. I appreciate everyone's honesty-the good and the bad. Anyone else nervous?:help:

Cutiern....I dont know exactly what i am suppose to be feeling....but just now i ate about 3 oz of mushy mushy potatoes in chicken broth....which was heaven compared to just broth and Jello. But after i ate the mushy potatoes i got this sensation in my chest almost like i couldnt breathe very well.....is that my stomach still being swollen? I know all my liquids went down like it was nothing.......Now i feel like i just ate a whole thanksgiving turkey.....but i have also been drinking Water and tea with my food and forgot i wasnt suppose to do that. This is so confusing....lol

cindy,

I feel the same way since my mashed potatoes. I don't know if it is the gas or what that is making me so uncomfortable after eating mushie foods. I am trying to drink more Water, so maybe it will go away. My stomach is still making lots of noise

cindy and reeneea,

i feel the same way when i drink something. i fixed a 6 oz Isopure milkshake and i could only get down 3 oz. i got the heaviness in my chest and upper back and i start to burp. i think we are still pretty swollen. i'm going to try some creamy Soup later on. i'm trying to get my Water down, but i just don't feel like it. and, i used to be such a big water drinker...that's all i ever drink is water.

cutiern:D

cutiern, I know I am walking around trying to drink my Water. I usually like water, but it feels alittle uncomfortable after every drink. I am having a hard time burping. I feel like I need to but it just won't come up. so my chest just feels kinda heavy and full.

Today I also feel like I just want to lie around. Not as upbeat and positive. feel worn down, lack of food is getting to me I think.

Officially banded yesterday. I have a bit of the heavy feeling in my upper chest as well. I know my stomach is really PO'd at me now, though, after the surgery... well, I know it will be better soon.

Hi everyone,

I want to say good luck to all those having their surgeries in the future. I hope those of us who have had our surgeries are doing well. As for me, I had my surgery on the 2nd. So far everything is going well. I have had no shoulder pain which some bandsters have experienced. In the beginning I did experience a lot of tightness in my throat which I assume is gas. My stomach also rumbled alot in the beginning. It does not rumble as much anymore. The thing I hate the most is I look like I am nine months pregnant. I am really swollen. The other thing is I have not lost any additional weight since the surgery. I have only taken in liquids and probably not more than 500-600 calories so I am not sure what is going on. I had lost 12 pounds in one week pre-op on the liquid diet. After the surgery in Mexico, my family and I stayed in San Diego for a few days. We went to the San Diego Zoo. It has been a long time since I've walked so much. Yet I didn't lose a pound. :) I have read other posts where others have experienced this so I am not too worried.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
