How many of you did a week of liquid diet B4 your surgery??!
Stephanie, I've waiting for my surgery date and i'm not looking forward to any kind of pre opt diet. I don't think i could do it. I've kind of noticed myself actually eating more knowing that the surgery is coming. Its like my body knows somethings up and is just wanted to eat everything in site. So a liquid diet does some what frighten me because i really don't think i can do it. Please let me know how you get thru the whole thing. You're going to be my advice when my time comes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and just try your hardest.

Wow! Sounds like everything is going great with all of you. I haven't checked the postings in awhile so i have alot of reading to do. I'm glad everyone is feeling better. You had me a little nervous about the gas pains and all the other discomforts. I feel a little better about going thru it all myself now that i see it doesn't last that long. I have a question. For those of you that have already returned back to work. . . . Are there any restrictions that you have still from the surgery? or are you able to do all the job functions? I'm nervous about returning back to work. I don't want to be gone for too long but i don't want to go back before i feel ready. I should be called about my surgery date Monday. So everyone please keep your fingers crossed for me. I'd absolutely love to be part of the June 06 Band Crew. I've been reading along with you and those July banders feel like strangers. j/k So as soon as i find out my date i'll let everyone know.

My doctor hasn't mentioned anything about preopt diet yet. He did tell me that i have to loose 5lbs (for my liver to shrink). I haven't started trying to lose the weight yet because i don't know when my surgery date is going to be. I'm getting the lap band because i'm overweight and i overeat. Did anyone else dread the idea of a preopt diet? I'm questioning if i can even do it. I thought about going on an all liquid diet the week before. Only liquids for a whole week??!! How did you guys do it!!?? Any advice at this point will help. For the newly banded. . . . How much time did you take off from work? And do you think its going to be enough?

I'm glad to hear everyone is having positive experiences. I can't believe how many of us there are that are banded and waiting to be. Just earlier this year i never really heard of the banding procedure. I wish i would have heard of it a long time ago. CURIOUS: How much does is cost to go to MEXICO and have the procedure done? My mom really wants it done to but doesn't have insurance.

I honestly can't believe it but... : I WAS APPROVED FOR THE SURGERY! :faint::biggrin1::cry:clap2::nervous:paranoid :omg: As soon as i was told that i got so nervous, anxious, scared, excited, and everything else you can think of. Its so weird it now feels wierd. I think i can't believe it. It is hard describe how i finally grasped the fact that this was going to happen for me. Now i only hope that my surgery is schedule for this month so i can keep in touch with all of you and have my own stories to share.

I really don't know what else to say but, exciting exciting exciting exciting I won't have alot to really say until i get my date and my surgery done. What i would like is if some of you can post pictures. I bet after i have my surgery you all are going to get tired of seeing my belly everyday. heheheh:biggrin1: i went to that scar thread the other day. I hope it looks worse than it really is. Question: How were your incisions closed?

well it sounds like all the recently banded are doing great. The gas in the stomach scares me too. I didn't know about that till i joined the forum. Its amazing how much we learn from each that we aren't told by the doctor. So for the newly banded, any thing go on that you didn't know about or were suprised it was happening? Just wondering. Congrats on the ins approval. It must be nice. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for my ins to say yes. I can't wait for the new newly banded ones to post after their surgery tomorrow. Hope everything goes fine and please let us know everything. I'm so excited for all of you. It almost feels like i'm getting the surgery.

Well, don't forget to come back and let us know how everything went. I want to hear EVERYTHING. I think one of the things that makes me so nervou is not knowing what to expect from the surgery itself. I will have to start that diet then. Right now i'm just waiting waiting and waiting. Which seems so hard. How long did you have to wait from the time you first saw the dr till now? I'm waiting for a surgery date now but i feel like once i get it i'm going to be told to be on a pre opt diet for a month or something like that and i don't know how i will take it if i have to wait too much longer.

Wow poodles! I can't imagine how you feel with just one more day to go. So you've been on a preopt diet for a month now. Why so long? Do you work? if so how much time did you plan to take off?

someone told me the other day that if i wasn't worried then she would be worried about me. It's completely normal to be nervous. That just means you're thinking about you decision and you're not rushing into it. You done the research and everything you know you can do. You need to just be confident in your choice. I should try taking their advice.

I hope i can belong to this group soon. I don't have a surgery date yet but i'm hoping and praying that its this month. I just have to wait. I understand how Cutiern feels. The longer i wait for the surgery date the more and more i start doubting what i'm doing to myself. I've never had surgery and i'm getting more and more nervous everyday. So even though i don't have a schedule surgery yet this month. I will be keeping a close eye on this thread so i can prepare myself for everything coming. :)You may all be newbies now but you'll be the pros i go to for advice after i get banded.

Is it worth it??
i'm hoping to get the lap band done soon. I am 5'3 and 265. I have alot of weight to lose. I know it would be worth it but i can't help but feel nervous about the whole thing. What would you say to someone like me as far as all the risks being worth it?
