Hey everyone! My name is cynthia and I just celebrated my 5 year bandiversary yesterday. I was an FDA trial patient in 1999. I weighed 340 pounds and have lost 210 pounds and have kept it off for about 3 years. The band is the greatest thing that ever happened to me!

Anyway, just thought I would introduce myself!

Congratulations!!!! I'd love to hear more from you!! I just celebrated my one year anniversary. I lost 40 pounds in the first 4 months and have just been maintaining since then. Can you give me some advice?? I just started using FitDay, and I know I was consuming more calories than I thought. Needing to work on exercise and Water. I was banded at 258, now at 223, and my personal goal is 175. With this new enthusiasm I have, I'd like to make it to goal by the end of the year. This site has been a tremendous help for me in creating that enthusiasm. Brenda

Well you can see my pictures and read my story at www.bandlandia.com

I am not advertising my business or anything...just that's where it is. If you click on testimonials...I am the Cynthia. Again, I am NOT advertising my business...just letting you know where it all is. I hope this doesn't offend anyone.

Cynthia, welcome!! And thank you for sharing your website with us. (Uh-oh...do I owe you royalties for all the times I've said "Welcome to Bandlandia"? I swear I didn't know about you before this!)

What a wonderful boost to hear a story from a real long-term bandster. I'm 7 months out and hovering at 45 lbs down, which thrills me and depresses me by turns. But I know I can lose another 45 lbs, and then another, and be at a normal weight for the very first time in my life. I don't care if it takes another year or three, the fact is it's POSSIBLE and that's what matters.

Please stick around! :):D :D

Don't worry, I won't go anywhere! As for the 45 pounds at 7 months out, you are doing fine. If you want to ramp it up a bit, be sure to get your Water and exercise in. Also helps to switch up your aerobic exercise a bit. That way your body never gets used to the same thing! Hnag in there...you are doing well. As for royalites...thanks for the giggle! Glad the phrase is being used all over! I always say that when patients wake up from banding or when they post for the first time. I guess it stuck!

Welcome! And yes, you have a great testimonial! Thanks for sharing!

Wow, I always thought tying the shoelaces to the side was

just a "cute little quirk" of mine! Ya mean it's 'cos I'm fat!!!! :) LOL!

Thanks for the website, it was so great to see everyone's testimonials. And, especially hear from someone who has had the lap band such an extended period of time. I have only known someone who's had it for less than 2 years. I didn't think it would explode after that time, but, I was curious to see if it would have to be replaced after an extended period.

I have only had the lapband a little over 7 months. It seems there are alot of newbies, but not many that have had it a while.

I liked that you went on the radio to talk about it. Since I am a radio jock myself. I have not talked about it on the radio though. For me it is very personal, but, I admire anyone who does speak candidly about the lapband

About 2 years ago, the newspaper did a story on me and at that time, I gave up all privacy issues. People who I went to highschool with called me. Very freaky. Now when I do the radio commercials, every once in awhile I hear from someone I haven't heard from in years or wierder still, I will be in a store and someone will hear my voice and ask me if I am that cynthia. Kinda freaky at first, but I am used to it.

Don't blame you for protecting your privacy, I tell people that if you want to tell, great, if not...it is your business!

Hang in there!

Angela,

Congrats on the weight loss! Wonderful! As for the plastic surgery...I would consult a plastic surgeon. Let him tell you whether your skin is going to snap back more or not. If not, go and get your surgery! Take it from me...it isn't that painful. I mean it hurts...heck it is surgery, but not so bad as some people make it out to be. Let me know what happens!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
