I have had my lap band for five years and I have not lost any weight in nearly a year. I feel like I'm doing something wrong. I think it's all emotion eating but I can't get my self to stop. I need some help trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Have you tried writing down everything you're eating? That would help you see where you're binging (if you are). Also, if you think it's emotional eating, try talking things out with someone instead of eating. You can message me if you'd like to talk. I'm always around (I get notifications on my phone from here, as well as checking the site when I'm at my computer). I'm also more than willing just to listen if you need it! Chin up! It'll get better.

eating more calories than one burns off will make one gain weight no matter what WLS has.....best to go back to basics and have your dr check your band if you havent been lately.......maybe a tweak will help...get your mind back into the game...PS: you can stop eating if you want too...you are stronger than you think

Hey Jenna! I see u r new. This is an awesome site for encouragement and in-ur-face advice. R u starting over essentially? I've had my gizmo since '09, lost 80 lbs, kept it off for 2 years then gained 60 lbs back. :( I've been completely unfilled for a year now cuz of stomach issues but I go in for a refill in a couple of days. I am starting over. Came back here for the support I need from other banders. I am in the process of relearning the rules. And the past week trying to remember to stop when full (not easy when I can eat ALOT). But I know I have to shrink the pouch I have stretched out. I was gonna do the 5 day pouch test to shrink but figured I have to go on all liquids when I get my fill so I've just been preparing mentally and watching how much I eat. There r others here starting over too.

Talk to us. Tell us more about u and what's going on? How can we help?

When I started this journey I kept a food/emotions log. I logged everyday, what I ate, how I felt at the time and anything major that was going on at the time. From that log I learned that I like to eat when I'm bored....solution, stay busy!!! Yes, I am busy all the time. Don;t watch TV (food trigger), I go for walks around my property, I garden, I get on here and post, I sew, I do everything other than eat.

You mentioned that you thought it was emotional eating, Why? What happened?? What could you do different??? Only you can change this so take a look at yourself and try to answer these questions. If you still struggle with this I would suggest going to a counselor for help.

Good luck to you, We are here and will support you every step of the way!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
