I have been banded for 2 1/2 years and have had no issues until a few months ago. I started having acid reflux really bad at night. I had to have 2cc of Fluid removed from my band which put me at 3.25. I gained a few pounds because I had very liitle restriction 4 to be exact). I went back to the doctor and had .50 put back in on Tuesday and last night I expereinced some acid reflux. I had not eaten 4 hours before bed and had a glass of Water about 30 minutes before bed. It felt like the water was coming back up.

I have been taking omeprazole 20mg for about 6 months 1 time a day. I also had really bad reflux before surgery. I am so discouraged. What in world could be going on. I am fine all day. I don't have much restriction and did not over eat yesterday. Any advice!!!

I would have your surgeon check your band position asap. Reflux can be a warning that you've got a slip.

If your band is ok, I'd see an internist to try to find the source of the problem and control it. Not only can reflux lead to band erosion but it can also result in health issues unrelated to the band.

Best wishes.

I have had 2 barrium swollow test in the last 6 months. There is no slip but they do believe a slight hernia has formed. I had a large hernia when I had my surgery.

Follow up with an internist, then. Or even start with your PCP and let them recommend the best specialist to see. Either way, it's really important you figure out both the cause and solution so it doesn't lead to bigger problems.

Have you tired sleeping with your head slightly elevated? You can put blocks under the head of your bed if you prefer. That's what they had me do many years ago. Than when I went in for my lapband a couple weeks ago at my pre-op visit they told me to do that again to prevent it from happening during the first 6 weeks post op. Just a suggestion, but more important check with your surgeon. Best wishes to you!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
