Is it normal to feel the port? Will this go away when the swelling goes down?

I am almost two weeks banded and I can feel everything. I am still swollen and black and blue at the largest incision.

Are you still bloated also?

No not bloated. I do the Tumbs throughout the day. No gas pain. But lots of burping and gas. The top of my stomach where the large incision is is swollen and distended. I have my two week post op visit on Wednesday.

Tomorrow will be 7 days! I'll try some tums myself.. Those are ok to take?

with my first band not only could I feel the port but when I lost the weight my port stuck out like a golfball under my skin. With my new band my doctor has placed it much deeper in and yes, I can still feel it, and I can see the 'lump' on my stomache where it's under. So yes, perfectly normal.

like missy, after surgery, i asked my dr was he sure he put the port/band inside me (i was so large, you could not feel it)....but as time passed, and weight was lost, i can now feel it (especially when i walk or stand up) and it is just (getting barely visable a smidge)....which is totally A OK with me......that be my friend, my helper, my pal who keeps me from overeating and lets me know it has my back.

The more I lose the more I can feel the port. Could not even find it right after surgery and have lost around 60 pounds and I really run into in the shower.

I have been able to feel mine since day 1. It has always been kind of swollen/sticking out a bit. I asked for a low profile port specifically after hearing port stories on here. I think once I lose some more weight it will go down a bit. I hope.

Surgery was 2 1/2 years ago, I've lost 109 lbs so far & I can still feel my port. It doesn't stick out but I can certainly feel where it is & if I lay on my stomach on a particularly hard surface it is especially noticeable. All completely normal :)

Im currently 11 days into post op and my port is causing me pain in my neck, left shoulder and the top of my back, not severe but enough to make me quite irritable and uncomfortable. Is this normal?x

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
