Ok so I know where my headache is comming from now. Day one of my pre op diet and I can already tell I am going to be hell on wheels...I would not have it any other way because I have my eye on the prize! A healthier me

Tamara I felt awful for the first four days of pre- op. Bad headaches, no energy, and just downright horrid. My surgeon said to expect bad headaches for the 4-5 days due to sugar and carb withdrawal. You will feel better soon :)

I haven't been on here much since this thread started extremely busy but today is the day... Please by for quick surgery and steady and safe hands

Good luck! How exciting! Take good care of yourself and let us know how you go, we are close behind you :)

Hi - I am brand new here - my first time. I'm scheduled for my lapband on 8/13. I'm nervous but excited. I've started my 2 week pre-op diet and I'm on my 4th day. Surprisingly, I'm not doing too bad. Can't believe I've not had any diet pepsi in almost 4 days!! Even though they say you can during the pre op diet, I decided to just cut it now since they say no carbonation after the surgery. The part that seems hardest for me is that a lot of my social time was around eating out with friends/family. SO I'm feeling rather lost and kind of deprived. I lost my husband 3 years ago and I have eaten out a lot since then with friends/family and so this will be a huge change. I'm ready to get this weight off though. I just need to be sure I keep a variety of "legal" things available that I can have. For those of you on the pre-op diet, do you eat any fruits vegetables during the day, in between your morning and lunch protein shakes?

I'm new on here to. My prevop appt is the 6th and my surgery is the 13th also;)

I just stocked my fridge with all of the stuff I need for my pre-op diet tomorrow! I'm not nervous at all and I super excited for my August 12th banding. Getting healthy, I'm soooooooooo excited!!!!!

I think that many of us have different pre op options, I bought sugar free Popsicles and fudgsicles, lots of sugar free drink mixes, Special K protein drinks and chick and beef broths. Also have tomato soup and drinking hot and sour soup from the Thai restaurant right now..yummy! I have to stay at 1000-1200 calories

What kinds of things did you stock it with? :-)

The Popsicles are a godsend !! Makes you feel like your actually eating something of substance!

Bariatric foodie.com has recipes for turning a protein shake into ice cream or pudding. That is what I am hoping will make me feel like I am actually eating something.

I'm on day 4 of my 2 week pre op diet. I'm having lots of diahreah. Anyone else have this problem? I'm wondering if it's the low fat almond milk that I'm mixing my shakes with. Anyone have any advice here?

Hi Terri,

Have you tried just mixing the shakes with Water? I use the Optifast shakes (Australian so not sure if you have the same) and they taste pretty good with just water. You might also be intolerant to an ingredient in the shakes? Perhaps ask your surgeon if you can swap them for something else because you will get very weak if that continues :(

Take care xx
