  1. Hi I'm having my band removed on April 7th and getting the sleeve. Anyone out there had the same thing and could tell me what to expect? I've been banded for almost 3 years and am wondering how much more painful it will all be since I'm having more than just the sleeve done. I'm ready for whatever is to come just would like to know what the expect. Thanks!
  2. Some drs use it and some dnt. Mine does bc he says that he monitor it there was to become a leak (bile) or infection bc then it would drain out and he could catch it to fix it. Otherwise he said he wouldn't know till it was to late. So even tho is sucks I'd rather be safe. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk
  3. Ugh it has been hard. Anytime I swallow a sip of Water it hurts my esophagus real bad. He said there was so much scar tissue around the band that it was causing a lot of restriction and is most likely as to why I had such problems getting food down with band. This time is much more painful than when I had the band done. The jp drain I have makes it even rougher. If I can just get through theses first couple of days I'm sure it'll get better. I'll keep you updated more. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk

  7. Well today is the day! I go in at 1045 and have surgery at 1200. I'm a little anxious about having band removed and sleeve at once but am ready to get it over with. I will let you guys know how it goes! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk
  8. Yes that is a very long time. I'm sorry you didn't get any results. I've gained since removing liquid from my band. But I was so tired of not being able to eat anything without it getting stuck. Gurl4god I bought a recliner yesterday! If I have to sleep upright then dang it I'm gonna be comfortable lol. Talked to my sister in law who had the sleeve and she said she spent nearly 2 weeks in her recliner so I decided that I probably would need one to. Did my pre registration and blood work yesterday so all I'm waiting for now is Thursday to get here. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk
  9. Thanks for the info. Hopefully I'll do as good as you by day 5. Not looking forward to weeks of liquid diet tho but it'll be worth it. I've heard alot of ppl have to sleep propped up. Why is that? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk
  10. I hope no complications either. I'm a pharmacy tech and am going back to work after a week. I know when I had my band I did that just fine but I'm worried about this time bc there is so much involved. But I dnt have anyone to cover for me after a week so I dnt know how that's going to go! Bandtosleever512 let me know how you are feeling after your surgery if you feel up to it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk

  12. I didn't realize how much change had happen till I started going through old pics. But I feel great and it's nice to be happy in the skin I'm in again. Some days it's hard not being able to eat what my family does, gosh I would love to be able to eat a cheese burger again but this is why u had the surgery and the sacrifice has been worth it. healing

I was banded on 8/13 and I've been sleeping on my stomach just fine for a few days now. I was surprised because I thought it would be painful but it's not.
  14. Thanks!! It went great:) the gas was painful but I got up and walked and that made it better. Then the numbing in my stomach went away and that was pretty painful but the morphine made it lots better. I'm so hungry tho. I haven't eaten since 5pm yesterday and they won't let me have any liquids till my upper gi tomorrow about noon:(
  15. I am a low BMI to. I'm 4 "11 and 168 I get banded tomorrow morning. I was told the same thing about losing the weight slower. If u want we can be buddies since we are around the same BMI and share each others accomplishment through this journey:)
  16. Congrats and good luck! Hope everything turns out great for u. My surgery is Tuesday the 13th and I haven't gotten nervous.....yet. But I'm sure I will.

    Waiting and wondering

I think there are different plans because I have BCBS and my BMI is 35 and I didn't have to have supervised weigh ins. Only took 2 weeks and I was approved. I've been told some plans require it and some don't. Hope you hear something soon! And good luck:)

    Question

Ok so my dr said for my pre op diet for me to do 2 liquids a day and 1 full meal. Was also told I could have cereal as a liquid. Which has confused me, so could I have vegetable soup since its got a lot of liquid in it like cereal? I would call my dr but they are closed today till Monday.

    Denied

I would keep appealing until u got approved. What insurance do u have? Bc I have blue cross blue shield and they approved mine really quick and I'm not as over weight as some ppl. My BMI is 35 but in the past 6 months I've been put on high blood pressure, cholesterol, meds and borderline diabetic. I was actually surprised when they approved it. I really didn't think they would but my doctor was confident they would.
  22. I am a hair stylist and only work 3 days a week. Well I am having my surgery on Tues the 13th. My next day to work is Sunday. Will that be enough time off. I just recently changed jobs so I'm still new and don't wanna ask for more time off than I have to.
  23. My surgery date is the 13th, yep love to be buddies:) my dr is only requiring a week diet before. My pre op appt isn't till Wednesday so idk what kind of diet exactly yet.
