Question

Ok so my dr said for my pre op diet for me to do 2 liquids a day and 1 full meal. Was also told I could have cereal as a liquid. Which has confused me, so could I have vegetable soup since its got a lot of liquid in it like cereal? I would call my dr but they are closed today till Monday.

  • You are in the pre-op phase so you could incorporate cereal and vegetables with no harm as you have not yet been banded. Once you are banded you will want to stay with liquid only and not add anythin

Some would say: "follow your doctor's advice", but I would do a full liquid diet (some vegetables ARE allowed during this phase, so it isn't "exclusively" liquid) my sister's surgeon didn't even require a pre op diet... I was like: WHAT?!! I told her to do it anyway, so her liver could shrink.

Once you are banded you will want to stay with liquid only and not add anything solid until the doctor advises.

Best of luck with your surgery.

She was 245... Not sure what the BMI was. Good luck, Hun!!

My doctor only had me do one day of full liquids, as with my weight loss (176 pounds) prior to surgery they she it was not needed. All depends on the doctor and the person I guess. But the full liquid died I was given did offer soup.
