  1. We are postponing my surgey. I am possibly going to change school districts and the new ones insurance pays fir lap band plus pays better and better insurance premiums. So I am sad to wait but it isn't too much longer. I have been waiting 10 years what's a few more months.
  2. Ok so I start my pre op diet in about 2 weeks. I know I will be able to eat again but not for a while and then much more carefully. So anyhow. I have a bucket list for the next 2 weeks. It isn't crazy just some of my favorite foods I plan to make for dinners. For example tacos are my favorite and I love hard corn shells. Pizza with artichokes, sausage and mushrooms (deep dish), my home made chicken strips and a few other things. Nothing crazy just stuff I know I will miss for a little while. I figure I don't plan to eat anymore than I normally would just make a few of my favorite dishes before the journey truly begins. I am both excited and apprehensive. Diets do not work for me this is why I need help. I can do three weeks. Have to keep my eye on the prize.

    Considering surgery

I have a high bmi my pre op diet is three weeks of protein shakes for two meals and one meal of 4oz lean protein, one cup veggies (not carb heavy) and one cup fruit (no bananas ) post op is a day or two of clear liquids, week of full liquids, week of mushy foods and then slowly incorporate solid foods. I have been told just to take small bites and chew well (should take 30 minutes to eat 30 bites) and you can eat darn near anything.

    where ??

Look on Amazon I get my protein mixes there. I like the plain Isopure for adding to juice, broth, sf koolaid, yogurt and sf pudding.
  6. Tomorrow I am doing a trial run of the pre op diet. This will help me fill in the hunger gaps while working. Starting with a mocha protein shake. I did this with a scoop of chocolate protein powder, 1 tblsp sf/ff chocolate pudding mix,1 tblsp sf torani chocolate syrup and a packet of freeze dried coffee. For lunch a cup of raspberries, and a chocolate cherry cheesecake protein shake. This was done with a scoop of chocolate protein powder, 1 tblsp sf/ff cheesecake pudding mix, and 1 tblsp cherry extract. For dinner 5 oz lean beef and a cup of sliced cucumber. I am taking some beef and chicken broth to school with me and I have sf Popsicles.. We will see how it goes.
  7. I actually never met a nutritionalist. I was given a book and paperwork with the diet written in it. It was all very fast! I have done a crap load of research for about the past 10 years! I am not worried just not looking forward to head hunger. I am an emotional eater, but knowing is half the battle...right? :/ lol

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

Did you talk to the true results people about financing and possible hernia as a way to get some money from the insurance toward surgery. That is how I am getting it.
  9. I would love that. Where in the valley are you. I live on the ASU poly campus. As for the first day. It was ok until about 10. I was starving. I only used one scoop and 8 oz of Water in my shake. I think if I use two scoops and 16 oz of water it will keep me full longer. My day starts at 5am, so it makes sense that 4 or 5 hours later I was starving. Gonna double it up tomorrow and see if that works. I could just make two 8oz shakes but that will be a pain when I am teaching, if I make one 16 oz and drink on it while teaching and I think that will work better, I hope. Now I just have to get my students in culinary to stop bringing me things like Peanut Butter banana bread! Lol
  10. I found an amazing array of shake recipes found on bariatric foodie.com. If I wanted I could have a different flavor every day, twice a day for a good month. I am just trying out shake flavors that look interesting and eating healthier. I am very much looking forward to my peanut brittle shake I will be having for Breakfast tomorrow morning. I figured if I start cutting the carbs now that will be less I have to deal with when I start the actual diet. The reason for most people's headaches during the pre op diet is carb withdrawal. This way I can deal with the energy issues many seem to deal with and not the no carb/sugar headache.
  11. October 4th! Super excited...

I am surprised about that I have one scheduled before my surgery, and I am going the same place you are.
  13. I use body fortress one scoop 8 oz water, 1tblsp sf/ff pudding mix, one tbsp torani sf syrup, ice and a blender bottle. You can mix and match flavors, I am allowed fruit and I like to do vanilla protein, pumpkin spice syrup and pumpkin puree. Tastes like pumpkin cheesecake!

    Day 1..

It is not just caffeine it is a double whammy with carb withdrawl as well. Whenever I would go on Atkins I would suffer with the no carb headache. Keep hydrated and hang in there it will get better.
  15. Me too... not looking forward to the no food. But, looking forward to the changes I am sure to both see and feel.
  16. We have the same diet I think. And fruit is ok. The reason for bananas is not so much the sugar but the fat. It is the good fat like avocados but for pre op we are to stay away from fat even the good. This is why you can substitute a mashes banana for the oil when baking. Hope this helps. You can banana it up win we get to mushier post op.
