Should I Be Getting My First Fill?

Recommended Posts

I am now 8 weeks post op and I guess I'm doing pretty good. I've lost a little over 25 lbs so far. But I have noticed lately that I am getting hungrier and hungrier and I can't control myself as much as I did previously. I contacted my clinic and asked when I should go in for my first fill and she said when my satiety doesn't last longer than 4 hours. Well, I keep forgetting to time my eating but I am noticing my cravings and hunger are getting worse and worse. Should I get a fill?

i got one every time i went to my doctor. When he asked are you getting hungry... i said yes every few hours... Now some days are better than others... but he was ok... fill time. At first he was not aggressive until i said... Hey doc... fill that puppy up. I still fill like i could eat the paint off the walls. He did get more aggressive after i reminded him i had the AP-Large band. He thought i had the small.... lol. So he got more aggressive and my weight loss did too. and the exercise got more.

Any way.... i currently have 10.9 in my 14 cc band. Good luck too you.

I guess the real question is are you genuinely hungry or is your mind playing games on you? Only you know the honest answer there.

Try this: When you start to feel that hunger urge stop what you are doing and have an internal talk with yourself. What are you feeling? Is it hunger or is it my brain just wanting it?

If you cannot go 4 waking hours without feeling real hunger and the need to snack then I would say yes you probably need a fill. By the way you are doing fantastic for 8 weeks out!! Congratulations.

I would think so! True Results of Houston does them every 4 weeks as needed. I'm 10 weeks out and have had 2 fills so far and another in two weeks.

My surgeon had me schedule my first fill for three weeks to the day after my surgery, which will be tomorrow. I honestly don't need it, I'm hardly ever hungry as it is - struggling to get in 700 cals a day (I should have 1,200 - ugh, I don't see that happening) so I don't know how this is going to go.

That's exactly how I felt. Week 4 got my 1st fill and all swelling was down finally so I've been hungry! Went back 2 weeks later, still hungry. Scheduled to go back in two weeks. I miss the full feeling first 3 weeks

Sometimes I will think I am hungry but I find if I drink something that goes away. Half the time I am just thirsty. You could try that. But if you truly are getting hungry you might need a fill! Best wishes.

I have really, really thought about the real hunger or the head hunger. I force myself to wait out the 4 hours but by then I am ravenous. Then I eat bad foods, something fast and easy. One thing I don't do enough is drink Water. I have to try to take in more.

I'd say that yes, you probably need another fill. When you get close to your green zone, you probably won't have to force yourself to wait 4 hours and at the end of that be ravenous.

Well, I weighed myself today, and I'm down another 1.5 lbs. I tried really really hard to drink the Water this week and I guess that did the trick. I have learned that water is so important, the only thing is I have to use a flavouring. Anyhoo, I was nice to see the scale move again.

Thank you for posting this. I am 17 days out and feel depressed that I am so hungry. I'm drinking plenty of fluids and timing my meals, but I'm able to eat almost the same amount of food as before the surgery. My surgeon won't be able to fill me for another 10 days, and I'm trying to keep my spirits up. I just don't want to think that I went through all of this only to end up where I started. :(

Hopefully, I will feel better after my first fill. Here's hoping!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
