Hey everyone! After hours of being on the phone with his HR department' date=' United health Care and COBRA they have since decided that because he worked today, and was clocked in that he can pay out of pocket for his insurance for the rest of the month. It will be expensive but less than the surgery! All of your comforting words made me happy! Thanks guys! I was a big ball of mess earlier and now I feel much better. None of my fills and after care will be covered but my family is all pitching in to help me. Once again.. thanks! Without knowing about Cobra and other benefits I wouldn't be able to do this. I feel like as if they were giving me no other option until I read all of your comments! Keeping my fingers crossed!!!! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />[/quote']

Yes sounds like a plan! Do go speak w/ your clinic (or/and) social services dept (at the hospital). You may find out (other) additional coverages or options too! I was shocked to discover these as well as co pay plan (s) also. I'm sure if your surgeon; clinic where you will get fill (s) and hospital ( all pull together) then you will be informed and can relax and concentrate on health. When I had my LB done i had a hernia and had diabetes flare up. I had no idea of either problem. However the cost was a lot more; But the billing was done in away that insurance covered it entirely too. I was Not expecting this. But a relief it was financially. God Bless! Will be praying favor with all your family and needs thru this

I'm so sorry about your situation but I strong fly believe that this is not the time for the surgery. God/life/karma have a wowed way of realigning us when we're off course or headed for danger. Keep positive. If you dream it, it will happen.

I am so happy for you!! You did the right thing and you made your surgery happen!! It was you who stood up and enforced an employee right that the company was willing to forget. This is a huge achievement!!!! Congratulations!

glad you are still going to be able to do it. I just wanted to let you know about a program I am using. I live in Arkansas and there is a org. called Arkansas Rehabilitation Services. I believe it is gov. ran. It is to help anyone who has a condition that is keeping them from working or keeping a job. There maybe other reasons also, but in my case, I have a job but because of my weight, it is hard for me to stand for 8hrs and do some of the job requirements. Since I have insurance, they will cover anything that my insurance does not. It pays for my copays, deductibles, and I also have to have compression wraps for my legs that cost over $150 per leg. They cover that and also my physical therapy. When I had to do the psych evaluation, they covered that. I know of two other people who did not have insurance and they covered the whole thing in full for them. It is not something you have to pay back either. My coordinator told me in the beginning that if I did not qualify for the surgery, they would pay for me to be on a program like weight watchers and pay for the cost of my food. I don't know what other states this is in, but it may be worth it to try and do some research. My own Dr who had done hundreds of surgeries had never even heard of it. Good luck with your journey!!! Hope this helps!

Hooray!!!! The band is the most important thing right now, you're going to lose a nice amount without it being filled at first anyway. This gives your body time to heal very well. I am so happy for you!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
