9 days post op.... weight loss stalled. so frustrated.

Recommended Posts

I am 9 days post op and as far as hunger I am not hungry at all. I am only eating what's on the diet list. And I haven't lost a pound in like 5 days. I just don't get it. food in general makes me nauseated most of the time. I eat only because I have no energy. I have a horrible time getting my Protein because everything I have tried makes nauseous after the first time. And if I could down it I am might could do it but stupid sipping makes it impossible. I spent more money today to try one I can mix with juice so we will see but I'm pretty frustrated and feel let down right now. Everybody talks about these huge numbers of weightloss in thd first few weeks and its just not happening. I don't get it. :(

Don't compare yourself to anyone else. Everybody has different experiences. Quick weight loss, slow weight loss...stalls, all of it. If you've read alot of the topics on this forum, you will know that this soon after surgery, you are swollen and weight loss will not happen the way you expect even if you are eating just a little food...or no food. Do yourself a favor and get away from the scale. Just work the program and you will have success. Good luck...don't despair...you have plenty of time to lose the weight...and you will.

I am Day 8 right now. Dont focus on weight loss at this point in time focus on your body healing. From day 1 of surgery to day 5 I didnt see any difference in the scale since then I have lost 4 pounds but then today nothing. You have to wait until your body gets out of "starvation mode" the weight loss will come but should not be your main priority. I agree with newlife Isopure Protein Drink are my best friend and they have enough Protein to bring your body of out "starvation"

My surgery was 10 days ago. I lost 7 lbs within 7 days but last 3 days I gained 3 back in two and lost 1. I was only eating 300-400 calories at first and I think my body too went into starvation mode. At first I was just drinking broth and Protein Shakes, past two days I started incorporating more Protein and blended food - hummus and blended cottage cheese (1% small curd), I also made high protein pudding mixing 2 scoops of vanilla Protein Powder in with sugar free instant pudding and skim milk. I measure out 1/2 cup portions. Tastes good and doesn't bother my stomach. I also started going on 30min walks. Hopefully I can break the starvation mode and start loosing weight again.

your not hungry because your insides are still swollen...as the healing subsides, the hunger will return..here is where your mental game comes into the plan..keep sipping and sip some more..and constantly weighing yourself as your body is healing is only making you miserable by what you wrote....the first month is for healing....not really losing anything except Water weight...if you are upset now, what are you going to do when it does get hard and it will... as go walking said stop comparing as i know that is hard to do as i do it myself...but you will lose according to your body...to gain weight you must eat more calories than you burn off....have you done that??? didnt think so..so relax, let your body heal, give the band time to work before you start posting what you did today.

btw, congrats on your surgery...and hang in there

Although I've lost during my post-op my surgeon told me at my one week check up to expect a gain during this time! He told me that it is totally natural. So don't give it any mind! Just heal! Drink plenty of fluids and if your like me who mentally feels like I have to go to the bathroom everyday my Dr suggested Miralax in my water! I think about my pre surgery life and if I got on the scale even once a month I most likely wouldn't be in this position! So take a break from the scale and look for some Non Scale Victories (NSV)!!! Like I have not needed a Prilosec since I had my surgery and my BP is almost normal!

My friends who have had lap band surgery told me DON'T get on the scale. I know that is hard but they are right. Let your body heal! Where do you get the Isopure Protein drinks?

I'm day 17 post op. I lost 18.6 then gained 2 pounds back- lost .8 after that but have stalled myself. I am staying at or under 1000 calories. I'm really trying to eat foods high in Protein. I go the 10th for my firts fill. However, eating foods high in protein has kept me from being extremely hungry. So I haven't reached a point where I'm starving. Thank goodness for that! Hang in there:) I keep telling myself the same thing!

Thank you forthe info. Which flavors do you like the best? I don't like the gritty flavor in some of the Protein Shakes.< /p>

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
