Weight lose stopped

Recommended Posts

Question to those have been successfully banded. I lost about 21 lbs since June first. 10 of those was from my pre op. I have stop losing weight and at a stand still. Could it be because I need my band filled? I didn't have it filled during surgery. My first fill is on the 17th of July. My nerves are on edge because now I am thinking "what if I am in that small percentage that is not successful with the band". Should I be worried? Is this something that happens? Thanks

You need to remember you are still healing. My weight lose was slow at first but after my first fill it really took off. Just be patient! Good Luck.

I lost 10 pounds on the preop diet and then after surgery my weight loss stalled for quite awhile. This is usually due to your body healing. I got my first fill last week and my doctor told me I should now start seeing some weightloss. The main reason I felt I needed a fill because I was hungry about every two hours. Since getting a fill, I don't have that problem anymore.

I wouldn't stress too much about it. It's the slow gradual weightloss that will be easier to maintain. I keep telling myself, I didn't gain it all overnight nor can I expect to lose it overnight (though it would be nice!)

Actually, it's likely not all because you need a fill.

You're only 25 days post op and still healing. Plus, plateaus are very normal during the weight loss process, some lasting weeks even months. The fact you've lost 11 pounds in 25 days is awesome- that's an average of 2.3 pounds a week. The average weight loss with the band is 1-2 pounds per week so you're right where you should be (even a little ahead).

You will be fine until your fill next month and once you do get a couple fills under belt, it will become a lot easier. The best thing you can do for yourself is stick to band sized portions and stay within your daily calorie allowance- which also becomes tons easier once you have adequate Fluid in your band.

You're off to a great start!

It is absolutely because you need a fill. Try to do your best at controlling the volume in which you eat and control hunger with Fiber. I was in the same boat. Started to really lose with my 4th fill. Its a long process

I am controlling volumes pretty good to my surprise and controlling the hunger with slim fast drinks and I didn't think about the fiber. Thanks for the input I am going to try that as well.

Thanks. I been using fitness pal and tracking everything I eat and drink and I don't even reach the 1200 limit so I think I am doing good with that part. Thanks again for your input.

Plateaus is often not discussed on this forum. It is essential that everyone understand that when the body experiences rapid wl or stress or drastic cal reduction it will go into a plateau. Two things happen 1) the body is on freeze as a protective measure to keep your reserves in case you are going into starvation mode and 2) it is readjusting to your new routine. Inevitably, if cal < energy output you will resume weight loss. But understand this is a very natural course and should not be seen as a setback.

With most plateau's, you have to trick your body. Add a little fat to your daily diet for a week the resume your normal eating pattern. That is what my personal trainer told me a few years ago and it worked like a charm. Its all about tricking your body.

Thank you for your input. My calorie input is way about 800 to 900 a day now. Its good to know that once the body adjust weight loss will continue.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
