So i am "running" my first 5k on June 8th! I have NEVER been a runner. I never even considered running/walking a 5k, just not my kind of thing. But, it was deeper than that. I was embarrassed. Embarrassed of my size. Will I finish last? What if I can't finish? It will be embarrassing if I have to walk it all? Can I even walk 3 miles? What if its really hot outside? What if I cramp up? I'll just do one later down the road when I have lost more weight...

All of these questions, all of the doubt. But, I've lost 47 pounds so far since I set up my initial consult and my attitude has changed! Screw waiting!! I'm ready now!!

I've been training for my 5k with the help of LJCBF a dim going to kick this 5k's a**!! 6 days a week I set my alarm to wake up earlier than I have in forever and I get outside and walk/jog between 1-2 miles! I still can't jog for very long distances, I still weigh over 300 pounds. But, I no longer worry about finishing last. I don't even think about cramps, weather, I'm not embarrassed about my size. I'm just going to go out there put one foot in front of the other for 3.1 miles! I'm going to finish and that's what I care about!

It feels good to be out every morning training. I will update everyone on how it went after the race.

Thats so awesome!! You can do it.....who cares if you have to walk some or all of it the first time. The important thing is you are doing it! One step, one minute at a time. Congrats on your decision. :)

You are going to great! BUT I MUST WARN YOU.....it is addictive! You may have found your new drug...

I started the same way..5 k, wasn't going to let the 86 year old man next to me beat me ( and he did) but I finished it. If I was going any slower I would be going backwards! It was the most exhilarating thing I ever did though.

You will be surprised that the ONLY ONE who cares about your size is YOU. ALL RUNNERS are out there for a reason, to prove something to someone or to themselves. You will be touched by the support you will get. I know I was. You will become a part of an elite group of people who are moving faster and harder than all those who chose to sit on the couch that day. IM SO PROUD OF YOU!

Let us know how it goes!

Great attitude!!!!! You're off to a great start!! I live it that u are saying screw what people think about my appearance ;)!!! I go to the gym and for years little skinny young girls will look at me and giggle and whisper!!! Then we start lifting or moving and I'm healthier and more fit than the little skinny fat girls. So u stick with it and kick some a$$ my friend!! You will only get better and gain more confidence this way!!! Good luck!!;) ill b joining the 5k ranks soon;)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
