My insurance (Health Assurance) requires six months with the nutritionist, cardiac clearance, pulmonary clearance, psych clearance, letter from pcp, EGD, current TSH within normal limits, and you can't gain more than give lbs from initial visit with surgeon. I have fulfilled all of these requirements. My BMI is 37 with 3 comorbidities. I started this journey the beginning of December. My last nut appointment is June 3. Then they send it to insurance for approval. Then after it is approved they call me back in for pre op appointment and to schedule. My new insurance year starts Aug. 1. I have already met my deductible. I need to get this done before the end of July! I know I am not the only one to experience this anxiety and wait, but ugh....it has me so crazy not knowing....And what if they don't approve me?

Take a deep breath! I too had to go through all those hoops and for me it was 10 months and 3 weeks from beggining to end of the pre-qual. Hopefully yours will go much quicker but the hard part is just getting all those appointments in a timely manner!

I feel whiny. I just hate the uncertainty of it all. I read these posts and I have hope.....I now have been diagnosed with sleep apnea. I am so looking forward to being and feeling healthier.

you are not alone.. I was the same way. wait until they send it in for approval. that week or two will seem like an eternity..

I got approved last week and then started preop diet on Wed. my surgery is on the 30th. now it seems like things are going quickly.

not much longer for you now!! if your last appt is June 3 rd.. you could be having surgery in June!

Thanks! Good luck with your surgery on the 30th. I will continue to try to find some patience and hope for the best.

Always remember . . . It's a marathon and not a sprint. Very good things come to those who wait.

I just had my surgery today and my LapBand journey started nearly three years ago.

Hang in there, do be patient, and do everything they ask and require of you. The rest will fall into place.

My surgery is scheduled 4/29. Very excited but scared too. My BMI Is 33, I know it will be a journey but can't wait for outcome. A new woman in a year I hope!!

I found that having to wait the 6 months and visit the nutritionist each of those months was a good thing. It made me realize how important all the things I was going to have to change really were. It gave me a few months to let it all sink in that I was really doing it.

I know it seems like a long time, but it goes real fast....trust me on that. I honestly wasn't sure i was going to do it until the approval from the insurance company came three weeks before my surgery.

The waiting game is hard! I started the whole process in Dec, 2008 and was not banded until June 2009! 6 months sounds like a long time but it will fly! Good Luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
