If you are anything like me, you will find you don't use half of what you buy. I went out and got all this stuff, Soups, popcicles (SF), pudding, Jello, ect. After surgery though I didn't really want anything. Once I got to mushie, I just ate 3 meals didn't want Snacks.

Everyone is different. I would suggest though get a few staples- Soup, SF popcilces, shakes. If you have some one who can run out for more, don't over buy because you may not be as hungry as you think you will.

I also didn't use most of what I bought. The one essential thing for me was a heating pad. I would have been lost without it! Don't judge your experience by anyone else...I expected to be back on my feet in a few days with minimal problems, but it was a week before I could lay down comfortably. Many people swear by the Gas-X strips but they did nothing for me. Repeated short walks around the house helped more than anything. Best of luck to you!

Exactly, don't overbuy.. And exactly, a heating pad was my best friend.. You're probably not going to feel like eating(drinking) too much at first but really strive to get the Water into you, small sips. I was worried that I wasn't drinking enough, even though I was sipping a bit every half an hour or so. Don't stress, take it easy, walk a bit, and relax, enjoy the beginning of the new you. Scary though, eh? Everyone goes through a little something at first. If you have any issues or questions pls don't hesitate to call your dr's office..they're the best to give you advise since they know you best. best of luck!

I like that Body Fortress shakes at Walmart. They are only 20.00 too. For sure don't over buy..I did and I still have SF Jello in the fridge, that I am pretty sure needs to be thrown out..lol.

I took GasX pills not the strips and it did help me, never got the shoulder pain everyone talked about from the gas, thank goodness but the heating pad helps with that and also walking helps get rid of the gas pains too. Stay hydrated, don't gulp, sip sip sip all the time. My go to Protein Shakes was GNC's brand Lean shake already mixed up in a bottle Swiss Choc. was my fav, tasted like choc milk and had 25 grams of Protein. Loose fitting jammies to lay around in for a few days. Good luck on your new journey, how exciting.

Tylenol, SF Jello and a nausea wrist band were my items of choice. A nurse at the hospital put one of those Sea Bands on me in the recovery room and it really did work. I thought it was kind of strange at first, but it does work. Best wishes to you!

I was banded yesterday and the things that I coups but live without are SF Popsicles, gas x strips, Tylenol. Others love Jello, I haven't had any yet but honestly I don't feel like eating anything. Just sipping Water throughout the day. Good luck with everything!! Feel free to ask me any questions. A little trick that I have done that helps with incision pain is putting a pillow on my stomach and resting my arms on it. Not sure why but it feels good! Lol

Also a Protein drink! High protein, low carb, there are a million to choose from. Everyone has a different preference.

I'm one day post op. My suggestion is not to buy broth, but to buy the real stuff and strain it. You will probably need to "eat" something with the pain meds. I tried the broth last night and it was disgusting. As little as we will eat, throwing out most of a can of chicken noodle Soup to get the broth is worth it to me. Actually, I'm saving it in the fridge for my husband. :)

Good luck!

Gerber stage 2 prunes. A natural way to get things moving. Just one or two jars will do the trick and only 70 calories per jar. (Mushy Stage) a lot of prune in a teeny serving. Magic!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
