any other students struggling with finals and assignments?

Recommended Posts

Sorry, I wasn't sure what other forum to put this in... just wanted to share the angst with someone... anyone... I have a paper I am struggling to complete, and three finals to get through all in the next 6 days. I am finding it extra hard this term as my mind is really on my upcoming surgery in May. Anyway, anyone else in the same boat? It feels like I'm never going to get through this!!!

FYI I am a "mature" (lol) student going back for my third degree in Social Work... arrrgghhh these paper are killing me. I had 10 due this term!! good luck to any of you who are also at the "end point"!!!

YESS! I'm in a very similar boat. I take pretty vigorous classes and it's so hard to keep up with things when you are trying to focus on the band. I had my surgery at the end of February and for the whole month before that I was struggling to focus on my school work because I was only thinking about my upcoming surgery. It was the same for a little while after my surgery too! You just have to try your best to stay focused so that you can be successful with your finals and the band! Good luck!

thanks, Jesslynn... It's good to hear from someone who knows. I just decided that I wouldn't take any spring/summer classes even if it means a bit more work in September - so I can focus a bit more on life with the band. I hope you are planning a bit of a break from classes over the summer too. Even work I find you can go, do your job and leave it there when you go home, but with classes the worry/mindset is always with you no matter what!! Good luck to you as well :) hope things are going well!

Yes,I am a "mature" student as well. I've just started though. My surgery is in May, and I can't imagine going to school and dealing with the band at the same time, in the beginning anyway. I'm having a hard enough time waiting on my surgery and going to school right now with finals and all, it has been affecting me. I could have had my surgery during spring break, but I decided that wasn't enough time off. I'm going to take summer one off so I'll have a month or so till I have to go back. I hope that will be enough time to adjust. Good luck with everything.

Stepto4, I know exactly what you mean! My focus has been very "off". I'm slogging through a take home final today, then have one on Monday, one more on Tuesday, then I'm done. I won't have to do any more course work until September. I think you made the right decision not having the surgery at spring break - now you will have a bit more time to adjust. My surgery is in May as well - you should come and join us on the May forums :)

Wishing you all the best in your finals... hang in there!

I'm not much of a computer wiz. I'll try to figure out how to find the May forums and meet you there. I'm still trying to figure out how to add friends

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
