Puree Stage....Suggestions????

Recommended Posts

I'm starting the puree stage today and wanted to know what are some meals or snack that some of you had at this stage. Just want a few ideas that may help me out a little. Is this stage also call the "mushies"? I see that a lot but wasn't sure if that was this stage or the soft food stage. Any input is greatly appreciated!! :)

when i was on mushies, i used my vitamixer alot.

i loved and still do eat refried Beans, mixed with salsa and shredded cheese. and i blended til (applesauce texture while on mush). hope this helps you..

I found that canned chicken noodle Soup, canned bean with bacon soup, and chili (especially Wendy's chili :)) to be really good purreed.

That Wendy's chili idea sounds great! I love it....thanks for the input :D

I'm doing 2oz. portions per meal. What type of food have you been eating?

I've been eating puréed black Beans with mashed potatoes. This was really good. I've also been eating Greek yogurt, applesauce and tomorrow I'm going to make guacamole and try a tuna salad. I may even make the deviled egg mixture too. Just open to anything right now. The nurse pretty much told me what I already knew. I've been able to eat about 1/2 cup or so.

Wendy's chilli doesn't sound like puréed to me. It has big chunks of beef in it.

As far as portion sizes my doctor had us at 1/4 cup months 1-4, 1/2 cup months 5-8, 1 cup months 9+...

As far as the stages, I was told 2 weeks stage 3 (full liquids), 2 weeks pureed, 2 weeks soft foods, at 6 weeks post op regular foods are introduced

...and pureed wendys chili sounds so good!!! 5 more days of liquids for me and i may just try that!!.. Ok now I'm getting hungry :/

Hely, you bring the chili home and blend/puree it. I have done this twice now and it is soooo good. Such a change from the other things that I have been eating.

Mine was the same as yours. Starts two weeks post op and lasts for two weeks. At my next appointment I get to go to soft foods!

I steamed lots of different veggies the stuck them in my blender until It looked like I could swallow. I did this with different fruits as well I drank them in between meals so I didn't get to hungry.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
