Restarting

Recommended Posts

I had my lap band surgery in 2008. Initially, I lost 70 pounds. I have gained 30 of it back. My band is still adjusted, I tend to have to purge if I eat too much or do not chew enough. My health is not the best right now, I feel like i am at the end of my rope, therefore, I need support to restart my journey and advise on the best way to begin. I am thinking of doing the 5 day pouch diet. I am open to any suggestions you have to offer.

Feeling like this is my last chance,

Angela

Maybe call your dietitian and go back to a few days of Protein shakes to get started. Good for you to try again. Sorry to hear your health isn't great.

You can do this. Go back to the rules like the beginning. Also Remember why you did this to begin with.

Thank you both. I returned to this forum to find support and I see I have it. I am hoping that in starting over, my health will improve also.

The 5 day Pouch Test is a good place to start. Make an appointment to talk to your surgeon. Please remember, IT IS NEVER TO LATE TO START OVER!!!!! There is always hope. Be encouraged.

Good for you,for starting over again, I am also gonna start over, I was tired of getting fills, and then having to get an unfill because they put too much in, i have been hospitalized twice for dehydration, do to over fills, I am really do for a fill, but im scared ,of taking that step again......I will call and get a fill next tuesday, right now i have NO restrictions, and I think maybe I should change doctors, i really dont care to much for them....... But keep smiling and with great people on this site we will get healthy, ive been band for 3 years, and down 50 plus and its creeping back.. Have a great night.....:)

I would definitely think about switching docs. To be overfilled, then dehydrated and hospitalized is not good. When I would get fills in the past, the doc would always make sure I could swallow before leaving. Good luck to you, we are all here for each other.

Wow, we have almost the exact story - banded in 2008, lost 70, you gained 30, I gained 35! I'm also restarting and am totally committed. I went so far as to be approved for a revision surgery then canceled a week before because I was nervous about changing my anatomy permanently. This is my last try and then I will get the surgery I really don't want. As for now, I'm determined to lose it and am coming on here every day for support and reading the success stories. I'm hoping that will keep me on the right track. I wish you the best of luck and know we can do this!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
