Hello everyone... I had my band done on August 15, 2012 and had lost 50lbs the first two months. Since November I've been fluctuating 10lbs back and forth. I have been on this plateau and have not lost anymore weight with having two fills. The first 50lbs I lost was without any fills. I just went back to the doctor last Thursday and he did not give me another fill, he said that he doesn't believe I am eating enough. He believes now that I have been released to start back going to the gym (hadn't been since before surgery) and him wanting me to eat more especially Breakfast, that I will start to lose again. I just had gotten really discouraged due to not losing weight. I started my journey at 445-450 and went down to 405 in a few weeks of eating 5-6 times a day and going to the gym at least 4-5 times a week. From the time I started my pre-op diet until after surgery (October), I had lost around 50lbs. I'm now around 360 and desperate to start losing again. My goal is around 185-200lbs so I have some ways to go but I'm not going to lose my faith. If anyone has any suggestions let me know... Thanks for listening (reading).

Losing weight is a simple matter of burning more calories than you consume. You will slow this process if you don't eat enough calories though. Your body will go into a starvation mode and slow your metabolism down. I see most of the successful female losers on this forum try to stick to around 1000 calories a day.

If you can exercise and burn 300 more calories a day you should lose 4-8 lbs a month.

So, track your calories, track your calories burned, track how many calories your body needs a day just to maintain and then do the math.

I have a few dietitians and one of them said you have to eat to lose weight. I bought a Fitbit and it helps me keep track of all my intake. I also record my activities and it keeps track of walking and climbing stairs on it's own. Like last night when I recorded my dinner it told me how much Protein I had for the day and I saw I could still have some more, so I did.

My weight stays around the same numbers for a few months at a time then I will have a 5 lb. loss. Weird how it works. I see my doctor every 2 months and have always showed a 8-10 loss each time and I am fine with that.

Good luck.

Thanks 2muchfun and dylanmiles23. Dylan im assuming you're right about the food intake because my doc said I'm not eating enough.

Just log your food and stay on course, you will get there. Good luck on your new life journey.

I agree with what everyone said. I am the same way. If I eat less (about 600 -700 cal) I dont lose weight and if I have 900 - 1100cal/day I lose about 2 lbs per week.

Everyone here gave you great advice.

I started about the same size you did, btw. I was 421. I know first hand how overwhelming it is to see the long journey ahead of you. But believe me, if I can do it so can you :)

If you haven't seen a nutritionist yet, I would strongly suggest doing so. They can help you set up calorie and food guidelines specifically for you. I know I'd be totally lost if I didn't have all the information I got from mine at the beginning.

Best wishes!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
