Hi everyone, my name is Monica. I will become a new bandster on tomorrow August 15th with Dr. Vincent Lusco of Lou. KY. My Highest weight was 445 and with eating 5x per day and working out at least 4x per week, I dropped down to 395. I've been contemplating weight loss surgery for the last 3 years but hadn't pursued it because of fear. Im 31 y.o. and I now fear that if I keep this weight it will most definitely shorten my life. I have been seeing a nutritionist for the past 4 months and its just plain hard to lose weight. I have been eating like once or twice a day for the past 10 years and I gained a ton of weight. It really didn't help with me doing that after my last child out of 5, c-section, tubal ligation, and the weight just stayed and kept building on. Now Im completely miserable, depressed, and I want my life back. I've been on this pre-op diet for a week and a day now, cheated a couple times but not a big amount of food. I felt bad after cheating but felt better after the scale read 375 yesterday from the 405 on the 3rd. I pray that my story will be a success as many of yours is or will be. Thanks for reading my story and Have a Blessed Day.

My sister had a gastric bypass and after 2 yrs she's gained her weight back, just like you can with a LB. It seemed very radical to me.
As far as having a foreign object in my body, my granddaughter has shunts & feeding tubes all through her body. She is a very happy smiling 12 yr old and has never had any problems with all the objects in her body.
    Sold me! Good luck !

MonicaD. reacted to This Girl Is Losing It in New To The Boards, Not Yet Banded
    Hi! I'm Becky.
I've been reading the boards here for a couple of months but finally decided to dive in. I am 4 months into the process since I decided to get Lap-Band surgery, and making my way through all the pre-op doctors' clearances - cardiologist, pulmonologist, gallbladder, etc. I am expecting to be banded in the fall - October or November.
I'd ultimately like to lose about 150 lbs. If I make it, I won't quite be "thin," but I'll be at a weight I was comfortable at for several years and which seemed natural for me. I've read a lot of discussion here that has gone both ways - people who've had great success and those who have struggled and not met their objectives. Lately I've seen posts saying Lap-Band is NOT the way to go if you want to lose more than 100 lbs, and this has me a little concerned, but not close to changing my mind.
I know it will be a struggle to change my way of thinking and eating - to nourish my physical body, not my feelings - and that the band will just be a tool, not the magic bullet (there's no such thing). But I have faith that the band will be the help I need to start over and live a healthier, longer, more adventurous life.
I look forward to joining you all on your journeys and wish you much success and fulfillment along the way!
