I completely empathize! Today is the first day I started to weaken and give in to cravings! My first fill is next Tuesday which I'm excited about but today was a wake up call - no more caving in!

Got food stuck for the first time today. I was banded 3/6 and I had my first fill almost 2 weeks ago. I felt no restriction, I mean NONE! But, I have been eating cautious bites just in case. Today I was distracted and took a big bite of salad with cucumber and BAM. Crazy, painful chest/upper stomach pain. Hurt bad and felt like I was gonna puke. Ran and got some Water, and took a couple of sips. The water hurt too and I felt water backing up in my esophagus. And then, like a tiny miracle, it went through just like that. Instant better. At least I think that was stuck food......

I too totally caved in to cravings today! I was so upset with myself right after...I had major food shame. No more! I'm taking back the control I had and not letting a day like this happen again! What was I thinking going into a Chinese buffet???? Bad Jessica! Very very bad. Lol.

I was banded 3/12, down 30 lbs total, 15 was pre opp. I had a fill a couple of weeks ago 3 cc's, I've had 2 stuck episodes, it does pass, me too with a salad. I too, totally caved today & ate some m&ms not sure why, but I'm sure after a couple of months of being really good, I just wanted to cheat a little...I'm over it now & will be back on track no problem!

Hi all! Banded 3/11/13. Down around 21-23 lbs. since surgery. First app. for fill, Dr. said I was doing well without one. Go back on 5/2 then maybe get one. Don't really notice any restriction as far as taking bigger bites an eating to quickly so I'm nervous when I do get a first fill, I'm going to be in for a rude awakening. :( I have a W.W. digital scale thats said to be very accurate, but weight varies 2-4 lbs. day to day in mornings. Water retention??:( thanks

Same thing hear. My thought (and this is just a theory) is that it depends if you have gone to the bathroom or at least had a morning pee. I won't even get on that scale unless I've have my morning pee. Every night before I go to bed I weigh myself and in the morning, I am ALWAYS around 2 pounds lighter.......

I was banded on 3/13 along with a hernia repair. I am still having a lot of shoulder pain from the hernia repair. Has anyone else had this shoulder pain? How long will this last?

I experienced this shoulder pain. It is not like the gas pains at all. Every time I would hiccup I would get a pain in my collar bone or shoulder blade area. Sneezing wasn't fun either. It went away without warning too.... Maybe 2 weeks.

Hope you have a better time than I did.

Hi all!

Checking in...

Was banded on 3/6; have had too very small fills since then. I do feel the restriction and if I'm not careful, stiff gets stuck. I've learned that it's more the speed at which I eat than what I'm actually eating when it comes to stuck episodes.

I still get sharp shoulder pain if I drink liquids too fast or fill up my "pouch" too quickly. It's definitely not fun but a good way to learn when to stop and when to slow down.

My weight loss has been slow but relatively steady. I lost 30 lbs on the pre-op diet which I was on for 2 full months. Since banding on 3/6 I've lost another 30 lbs. Of course I wish it was more but my doc says 11 lbs/month is great progress.

I'm still struggling to get the motivation to exercise, I know when I get there, I'll see more movement on the scale and more changes in my body.

I hope my fellow March bandsters are doing well! Remember, the process if different for everyone so don't beat yourself up, it'll come. The mental changes and the physical ones!

Hey there Marchies!!

Hope May is off to a good start for everyone!! We will be hitting the two month mark this month!! WooHooo!!!

I visited my primary care doc yesterday and had the results if a blood test. Looks like I am low in B12 and will be getting shots weekly. Otherwise she's happy with my weight loss. According to her records my last weight check pre op in Feb was 258 and yesterday I weighed 237. So that's 21 lbs including pre and post op loss. Size-wise I'm down from a 20/22W to an 18W. Thank goodness I had kept that size in my closet from last time I was in it. LOL!!

It's kinda weird looking at my weight typed above! I've never really shared that number with anyone besides my hubby before. Very liberating!!

Ok y'all keep up the great work! Great inspiration for me to get moving!!

Alright so I don't speak highly of myself often, but I'm proud of myself and I wanna share it with you guys. I have went from 347 in January to 312 pounds this morning. I went from NEVER exercising to working out 4 to 5 times a week 45 minutes to an hour usually in the morning but sometimes in the afternoon too. In 5 weeks my average calorie intake has been about 1200 when it used to be well over 3000. Instead of eating fast food 7 or 8 times a week, I do it maybe once a week and when I do I don't go for the double quarter pounder, I go for a grilled chicken sandwich and yogurt at chick fila. I've been working so hard and all my clothes (that used to be a 5x t shirt and a 30-32 pants size) all fit nice and baggy and I'm actually going to buy a belt this week for the first time since high school. It feels so good to say these things. I go for my second fill on Monday, and I was thinking how nice it would be for us march bandsters to share some of the positives in our lives! We're doing it guys! One pound at a time......

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
