I was banded on February 10th. It was just yesterday that I really felt good. Yesterday was the first I did not have shoulder or back discomfort from the gas used during the procedure. It hurt to take a deep breath and it was painful to drink more than just sips, for quite a few days. I can say it gets better each day. I still have no hunger and today, really no pain except some at my port site. I'm on Clear Liquids for 2 weeks post-op and then on to pureed food.......can't wait for Monday. Stay in touch.

Happy Valentine's Day! I was banded on the 7th & every day has became a little easier. You say you hope you're not taking in too much Fluid, I was told no more than 8 oz per hour. Best wishes :)

The only way to feel better is to walk, walk, walk, and sip, sip, sip and drink peppermint tea for gas! It will get better!

I was banded on the 12th as well. Things seem to be going well. Haven't been able to sleep much the first night home I had a horrible case of dry mouth. Thurs night the dry mouth was better but still not sleepin for long periods.

My abdominal pain in nominal. I am sufferring from a massive headache, to the point my teeth are aching. I have a prexisting brain injury and I think the surgery just triggerred a bad head ache phase for me.

I also wasn't 100% over the flu at the time of the surgery, so I have some crap in my sinuses and lungs that isn't making me feel great.

I haven't had much hungrier until today .. Being very careful .. No straws ... Doing deep breathing .. Etc.. How long us normal for clear liquids ?

My Dr had me on clear liquids & 5 Protein Shakes a day for the first week. Now I'm on 2-3 shakes daily & a pureed diet. Then its 2 wks of soft food (mushies) and by wk 5 unto a regular diet but not all Dr's are the same. I have a list to follow from the nutritionist.

Phenix,

I was told not to focus too much on weight loss until after my first fill, that the first month is really a time for the healing process. I started the pre-op diet 1 month in advance just to see if I could do it

& ended up bringing my BMI down to 31 so I have just been following the rules & continuing to educate myself. As far as 40lbs, did that include weight loss from the pre-op diet too? Seems like a lot but like you said, we all are different. I have got on the scale since my surgery (the 7th) but it has fluctuated a lot which I heard was normal due to Water retention. My first post-op appt is Monday so we'll see what she says....I'm still new at this too. I'm sure you're doing fine.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
