I am one day ahead of you, and am doing better than I dared hope.

I was banded on February 10th. It was just yesterday that I really felt good. Yesterday was the first I did not have shoulder or back discomfort from the gas used during the procedure. It hurt to take a deep breath and it was painful to drink more than just sips, for quite a few days. I can say it gets better each day. I still have no hunger and today, really no pain except some at my port site. I'm on clear liquids for 2 weeks post-op and then on to pureed food.......can't wait for Monday. Stay in touch.

Happy Valentine's Day! Best wishes to you all!

I was banded on feb 13 th and feel like someone took a baseball bat to my abs then did 100 situps. I can barely move without pain and i am sleepinf a lot. I walk around when i can but just feel miserable

The only way to feel better is to walk, walk, walk, and sip, sip, sip and drink peppermint tea for gas! It will get better!

I was banded on the 12th as well. Things seem to be going well. Haven't been able to sleep much the first night home I had a horrible case of dry mouth. Thurs night the dry mouth was better but still not sleepin for long periods.

My abdominal pain in nominal. I am sufferring from a massive headache, to the point my teeth are aching. I have a prexisting brain injury and I think the surgery just triggerred a bad head ache phase for me.

I also wasn't 100% over the flu at the time of the surgery, so I have some crap in my sinuses and lungs that isn't making me feel great.

I have been tolerating clears really well.. I get that pressure from the gas in my shoulder intermittently .. I walk at least twice a day ... I'm looking forewarn to more fuller liquids .. I haven't had much hungrier until today .. Being very careful .. No straws ... Doing deep breathing .. Etc.. How long us normal for clear liquids ?

My Dr had me on clear liquids & 5 protein shakes a day for the first week. Now I'm on 2-3 shakes daily & a pureed diet. Then its 2 wks of soft food (mushies) and by wk 5 unto a regular diet but not all Dr's are the same. I have a list to follow from the nutritionist.

Ok ... When did u first see u were losing weight .. I have lost because of being on liquids .. But postoperatively ..... Some have said by their first post op appt they were down 40! That seems incredible ... I know everyone is different I just was looking at ball park

I had my lap band done February 13 by Dr Cobourn

I was very sore from gas pains day of surgery and currently just getting random

pain. I take gas x strips which helps quckly.

I am on full fluids ensure high protein can not tolerate too much as I get full easily.

Phenix,

I was told not to focus too much on weight loss until after my first fill, that the first month is really a time for the healing process. I started the pre-op diet 1 month in advance just to see if I could do it

& ended up bringing my BMI down to 31 so I have just been following the rules & continuing to educate myself. As far as 40lbs, did that include weight loss from the pre-op diet too? Seems like a lot but like you said, we all are different. I have got on the scale since my surgery (the 7th) but it has fluctuated a lot which I heard was normal due to Water retention. My first post-op appt is Monday so we'll see what she says....I'm still new at this too. I'm sure you're doing fine.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey there! How are you doing now? I feel much better! Eating more and sometimes I feel like I am eating all the time but still 700-900 calories...getting anxious for weight to start melting off again - first fill on 3/25..
