depressed

Recommended Posts

Been very depressed lately have been having low blood pressure to the point where I'm passing out today it was 70/50 my primary doctor is saying it's because I'm not taking in enough calories! And she said that I'm suffering from anorexia! I have 25 more pounds to go to my goal so I don't see how I have anorexia

Anorexia actually has nothing to do with weight. Someone who weighs 300 pounds can become anorexic if they stop eating. So, what you weigh has nothing to do with it but rather what you're eating (or not eating).

How many calories a day are you eating?

70/50 is very, very low. If your doctor says you need more calories I would definitely listen. They only have your best interest at heart.

I hope you find the help you need. Best wishes to you.

If you're not getting enough calories or the right nutrition, your bady will tell you and it sounds like it's speaking loud and clear.

Talk to your doctor and find out how many calories you should be eating. The low blood pressure can be dangerous so it's really important you do whatever it takes to get healthy again.

600 calories is low in my opinion the minimum I was told was 800 and that was pre and post op. I stayed on 1200 after healing phase and had a wt loss of 2-3 lbs a week. Increase your fluids that may help but in agreement with everyone else see your nutritionist you may also have low blood sugar.

Spoke to a specialist today he kinda gave me good news but bad in a way the calorie intake has nothing to do with my bp and passing out that it seems like a blood vessel and heart problem referred me to a cardiologist I have an emergency appointment next Wednesday

The two things could be related. If you take in too few calories, your body will "take" calories from your muscles, such as your heart by breaking down the muscles tissue. It is extremely important that you also talk to your surgeon and or NUT about your calories. Even though you still have 25 lb to lose, you have to take in a minimum amount of calories.

Good luck and remember to drink your Water.

I definitely agree with everyone here. The goal of all this is to be healthy, right? That extra 25lbs isn't going to be worth it to lose if by doing so you are harming your body. Hopefully you can get your diet straightened out and start eating an appropriate amount of calories. I hope your heart problem can be fixed and you can start to heal. Good luck!

You can't heal from any other conditions or issues on 600-800 calories. That is starvation mode ... deliberate anorexia. Your body needs a lot more than that just to carry out basic daily functions, like at least 1500-2000. THat's why the starvation threshold is about 1000. You gotta keep the lights on, or the whole place blows.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
