question about flipped ports

Recommended Posts

It seems like several people have had flipped ports. My question is...How does a port flip? I thought they were sutured down. Do the surtures tear? Or, maybe some doctors don't suture the ports? I'm just curious how this happens.

Thanks,

Marsha:confused:

Hi Marsha -

Some doctors don't suture them down (I think that's mostly the European sector), but I have no idea how many of them report that their port flipped. In my case, I tore one of the sutures stretching for something. My doc only uses two sutures out of the possible four.

I can't say for the others - most people do not report why, or why they "think" their port flipped. In my case it was very painful, so I knew right away what caused it.

Hi Marsha,

I'm not sure how my port flipped but I have a good reason to believe it was during yoga. I went to a class about three weeks after my surgery and it turned out to be a bad idea. It wasn't really painful and I had no idea until I went for the first fill last week. I'm going to have it repaired and I'm not supposed to do anything (no gym, skiing, picking heavy things..) for 4 weeks.

If I only knew this before... I love my gym, love my classes and since I felt pretty good, I thought I'd give it a shot..a little expensive, since I'm a self pay..

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
