March 2013 Surgery Dates?

Recommended Posts

I loved reading this thread, so I will join in!

Congratulations to those already banded!!!!

My surgery is March 9th. A Saturday, which I thought was strange ! I'm staying over night.

I'm on day 6 of pre op diet, 3-5 Protein Shakes a day + 2 cups of steamed veggies. I keep thinking of chicken!!!!

I am worried about looking after my 21 month old after surgery, my husband is only going to be home to help for 3 days afterwards. Those who've had surgery already-do you think I will be ok pain wise???

I have the bad taste too! The other day I hugged my son and he said "Ma? Did you throw up today?" I guess the shakes make our breath smell horrible too! I'm sipping diet Green Tea( iced) now! Lol

Yes, I hate the after taste of the Protein shakes. My poor hubby hates the smell on my breath. Good thing he loves me so much..lol. I can't wait till I don't have to drink so many of them every day. However, I agree that they do fill you up. I am glad I am on Protein instead of just Clear liquids. I think it would have been a lot harder. I only have 4 days to go and I am so ready. I feel great. My appetite has went down and I love seeing the numbers going down on the scale.

LOVE hearing from all the new March banders. Keep letting us know how things are going!!

Banded this morning!! Got there at 5 am, they started surgery at 7:30. I was out by around 9 am. They let me go home at noon! My throat hurts a little from the tube, the gas pains have already decreased to very minimal in my shoulders and really wasnt as bad as i thought it would be. I bought the gas-x, havent used it though. Ive slept off and on all day, they have me on tylenol with codine. No vomiting! Maybe im just lucky, but also thankful. they have me drinking clear liquid 1 oz every hour. I just opened my first sugar free Jello, taking very slow, it does feel different goin down. Im burping alot, lol. I also tried some top ramen broth, but for whatever reason am more comfortable with Water for now. Its pretty sore getting up from the bed or sitting, happy to have my fiance here to help get me up <3. Other then that just hanging out with my heat pad. Oh i did walk for about 15 mins and am pretty sure thats why the gas pains arent as bad. I might go again. Anyway, good luck guys and to the ones who have already done it, hope u are feeling better each hour!

I an so happy for all of you, but a little sad myself. My surgery was postponed because my platelets are too low, and I have seen the hematologist, who is running tests. He assured me that he would get me to where I could have surgery, but could not tell me when that might be. I am discouraged, and don't know what to do about the diet. On the one hand, I am sure that losing more weight would be great. On the other hand, if I were able to stay on diets for a really long time, I would not need surgery. It is looking more like my surgery may not be until April or maybe even May. I was within a week of my original surgery date. Yep, feeling kind of low.

Banded yesterday. Everything went great. No nausea, very little pain. Port site hurts if I move wrong. Dr. Discovered and repaired a hiatal hernia at time of banding. The best advice I can give is to walk, walk, walk. When I woke up this morning, my tummy was hurting, the pain stopped as soon as I got up. I am NPO for barium swallow at 9:30, then home if all goes well. Yesterday it was Jello, broth and tea. I was satisfied with that, no real hunger.

So sorry for your delay. I'm sure all will work out, but bet it is very disappointing. I will be reading your updates soon, hopefully.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
