- 1st week post op having hard time getting protein in
I am 5 days post op and still only able to get in about 16oz protein shake (4oz at a time through out the day) and then some popsicle, water and 1 jello. I get that full feeling so quick. Is this normal? A couple of drinks and I am full for an hour. If I try to take more in I get nauseous but I'm afraid of not getting enough protein in. Each day I have been able to take a little more in. Just don't want to make myself weak or sick from not getting enough in.- March 2013 Surgery Dates?
Congrats!!! I am now on my 4th day post-op. I must say the weekend was pretty rough but today I woke up and feel almost normal again.lol. I can barely drink 2-4oz an hour. Still not even hungry. My gas pain is now all gone and no nausea. I am now looking forward to what the future holds and still SUPER excited!!! I start back to work tomorrow so will be interesting to see how that goes.- How did you make it through stage 1?
I am only 3 days out but I am the same way. Food looks and smells horrible right now. I can't get enough Water. I am trying to take in Protein shake as much as possible but hard to do. I just keep telling myself my stomach needs time to heal. I just take sips every few minutes.- March 2013 Surgery Dates?
I was also banded Friday. I have episodes of nausea but nothing to major. My insides just feel really sore and full. I have been trying to sip water and protein shake as often as possible. I too still pretty wiped out and just walking for 10 min makes me feel like I ran a marathon. My gas is slowly fading which is WONDERFUL. If you are really nauseated I would call your dr for some meds. They do help a lot. Just remember this phase will pass quickly. Today for me is a TON better than yesterday.- March 2013 Surgery Dates?
Well I got banded yesterday. The nurses where laughing at me . They said they have never seen anyone in such a good mood and excited to have surgery. My surgery was around 7:45am and I was home by noon. I slept off and on most of the day. I got up several times and walked around my house. Today I feel a littel better but still shaky and took another 2 hr nap. I am sipping water as often as possible to stay hydrated. Even that is a chore right now. I am really sore inside and out but I know every day will get better. I have used gas-x strips when I felt the soreness inside and it definately helped. Also used the heat pad when I'm feeling sore and it helps also. Good luck to everyone getting banded next week!- March 2013 Surgery Dates?
My surgery is also this Friday. So excited and so ready!! Good Luck!!- How well do you tolerate soda after banding?
Looks like you have done great. You have the exact starting weight as me. I also want to do my best without a fill too quickly. I had no idea that soda was such a controversy. I just had heard different things. My dietician said some people can handle it and some couldn't but that I for sure couldn't for a month. I don't want to do ANYTHING either to mess my band up. I know soda is not good for you anyway but I do love it. But I rather be healthy anyday. Guess I will enjoy my last one tomorrow. Thanks everyone for your help!!- How well do you tolerate soda after banding?
I am about to get banded this Friday and have read different things about how people tolerate soda after being banded. I LOVE a diet soda every once in a while and am just curious if I will no longer be able to drink it. I know I for sure can't for the first month. But what about after that?- March 2013 Surgery Dates?
Yes, I hate the after taste of the Protein shakes. My poor hubby hates the smell on my breath. Good thing he loves me so much..lol. I can't wait till I don't have to drink so many of them every day. However, I agree that they do fill you up. I am glad I am on protein instead of just Clear liquids. I think it would have been a lot harder. I only have 4 days to go and I am so ready. I feel great. My appetite has went down and I love seeing the numbers going down on the scale. LOVE hearing from all the new March banders. Keep letting us know how things are going!!- Southwest Missouri
Welcome Lola and congrats on starting your new journey. I am in southeast Missouri and am scheduled to have my surgery next Friday. I have found SO much wonderful information on this site. I am so excited about starting my new life!! Keep coming back and asking those questions. I will help you as much as I can along this journey!!- anyone with anthem insurance?
I have Anthem BCBS of Missouri and mine did not require anything other than a history of weight loss attempts in the last 5 years (lol...that was easy to show) and then I had to see a pyschologist and a dietician. I was SO SO happy when they said mine was paid at 100% and I didn't have any waiting period. However, I know each plan is different. You drs office will call your insurance company and find out after your first visit. Good luck!!- gym member ship
I remember that feeling of first joining the gym and being totally lost. Almost all gyms have an orientation with a trainer. I highly recommend setting that up. They will go over each peace of equipment and how to use it. Most of them will even start you out on a program if you ask. Way to go by signing up and starting a fitnes program!!!
