First fill = not happy

Recommended Posts

Had my first fill this morning. I now have 3 cc's in my 10 cc band. After I left my doctors office I noticed the familiar burning of acid in my mouth. I e-mailed my doctor and he said I could be swollen because of the fill or I may be super sensitive and I could come in tomorrow for a slight unfill. I am taking liquids just fine, no nausea or throwing up. I don't know whether to wait and see if it is swelling and the reflux goes away or to just go in tomorrow for the slight unfill....uggg. Anyone have a similar story or words of wisdom they could share, please and thank you!

I would wait and see! Could take few days to adjust. Mine always seems tighter the first few and real restricted.

All u full fluids for a couple days after every fill?

You should be full liquids for a couple of days. If you continue to have the burning and reflux with liquids, go back for an unfill. Sometimes 0.5 cc can make a world of difference. At least in my experience. You should do what you think is best for you.

I've shared this tip before but truly it is worth repeating. After a fill, stay in the doctors reception area for 30 minutes sipping on liquids. If you have problems with the fill then that generally will show up during that time and you should get a little taken out before leaving the office. Well, that is how I do it and might be helpful to you.

Swelling is normal after a fill. If you can drink with no problem then I would wait. Swelling can last for a few days to a few weeks.

Thanks ladies!....I'm leaning towards doing my 48 hours of liquids and hoping the reflux goes away. If not I will go in next week for an unfill..

I got my first fill today. I have a 10cc band and got 3cc's today. My doctor makes you drink a bottle of Water before you can leave. If you have problems he will take some out at that time. I was able to drink the whole bottle but, I did have to sip it and not guzzle it. He told me to stay on liquids the rest of the day and I could go back to food tomorrow. I am kind of nervous about that. I may just eat soft food tomorrow like yogurt, cottage cheese or eggs.< /p>

Hi,

I had my first fill on Wednesday (two days ago) I got 4cc in my 10cc band and i felt a little discomfort for the first 24 hours as it was still hard to drink and i could feel it go down slowly. I was told to stay on liquid for three days and today (Day 3) i feel much better. Maybe book an appointment in a few days and see how you go. If you feel better ring and cancel your appointment. Good luck!

I have read this before I don't know if it was your post but thanks. I decided the first time I read it that is what I will do every time whether dr requires it or not. Dr. is a 35 mile drive so better safe then sorry.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
