Band to the Rescue! (again)

Recommended Posts

This morning, one of the rare mornings I chose not to go to the gym....

My Wife made a mess of Blueberry pancakes and eggs....aroma filled the house....

She asked me if I would like some...YOU BET! (head talking, not hunger)

Long story short...2 small swallows...band immediately said STOP! Do Not proceed or else!

This is not a band Friendly food for me......

Moral of the story, in my case, even when I want to be bad and do things I should not, the band is always there preventing me from

doing so....Totally in charge!

It's that way all the time...does not matter where I am...parties, out to dinner..holidays...buffets...whatever....You can put anything in front of me but there is only so much the band will allow me to do.....

Only thing I need to do is make wise food choices.....in other words stay away from the foods that are high in fat, sugar, etc, etc....

Wish my band was more like that. Mine is all me, I have to make the decision to eat something or not. As long as I chew well I can eat anything, but that doesn't mean I should. I have had 6 fills and have about 6.5 cc's in my 10 cc band. I can last the 4-5 hours on a cup, but it's not my band saying no it's me doing it.

Yes it is that way for me too. Someone made some minnie muffins at work and even though I know I can not eat them of course I tried. Two bites and oh my that is one food that will not go down no matter what. Cake, breads, muffins, Pasta is not happening lol. But the cake is a good thing because I love cake.

Some of the foods I can eat get stuck to remind me to chew more or today is not the day for this food. Unfortchantly if it junk food everything slids down no so good even pancake will go down boohoo so I just cant have them around.

Interesting how the foods that are difficult, they're not that good for us in the first place.....so I write them off and don't work at eating them....

Can't wait to be there!!!!

Are you banded? I'm just curious to know if you're banded why you're not there. I'm pre op so I'm trying to get everyone's opinions and stories if they don't mind sharing.

I was there and my band seems to have loosened? ...or my stomach shrank? All I know is I want to be there again! Going in for a small fill tomorrow. Hopefully, that will make the difference. I know it's my responsibility, but it's nice to know that my band has my back. =)

My band also sends me messages that warn that a particular food is not a good choice for me...and I'm not willing to suffer the negative consequences if I don't heed the message!

We recently went for brunch at a Cracker Barrel...and they do make an excellent Breakfast. My order came with one pancake...I was able to have one small bite only, and that was it. The egg was excellent...and healthier choice.

So yes, my band also becomes my conscious telling me to stay on track!

I do love having my band!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
