1000-1200 Calorie Diet

Recommended Posts

I'm getting back in the saddle as they would say, and starting over after having a baby and issues the last few years. My Dr. told me on Friday he wants me to stay between 1000-1200 calories a day. Well I've never had to count my calories before and I'm not really sure where to start. So I'm wondering if you can point me in the right directions, websites, any good recipes, meal planning. I'm not a picky eater the only thing I don't like is seafood (I can do tuna and that is about it). Thanks in advance for the help

Look into FitDay.com. You can log your foods there. I know that there are a lot of other places as well. Someone else will answer with those.

I log my food on myfitnesspal and goal for 1200 calories a day. I basically eat 3-4 oz of Protein & 1/2 cup veggies per meal. I don't do Protein shakes (unless I have to after a fill). If you go to the food & nutrition forum there are a lot of threads with meal ideas.

Good luck to you.

I use Lose It on my phone. It's also online and the online syncs with my phone. It makes counting calories very easy. Plus, you can look up thousands of items from their database, include restaurant food.

If you have an android phone, you can find it for free here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fitnow.loseit&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5maXRub3cubG9zZWl0Il0.

For online, look here: http://www.loseit.com/

I use Myfitnesspal and it is great! You can log your food and it keeps track of the calories, fat, protein...etc. You can also add friends and encourage each other along this journey. Highly recommend using it. :)

I also use myfitnesspal.com . I keep my calories around 1100 per day and try to get as much Protein in as I can. I start my day with a Protein Shake to which I add a banana, greek yogurt and frozen fruit. Fills me for a long time.

I also use my fitnesspal.com. I have used it for my entire journey. I have always watched my calories and have maintain between 1000-1200 for over 2 years. As far as Protein Shakes, I feel your pain, my taste has changed so much over the past 2 years and I do not like any of the per mixed shakes they taste and smell to yucky to me. I am a nurse and the remind me of tube feedings I have had to feed patients so I can not stand the smell. I started out with some I ordered from bariatriceating.com, they are low in carbs and calories and high in Protein. I love the Peanut Butter Cookie and Carmell Lattee. Also a lot of people speak very highly of Unjury but I have not personally tried them, you also have to order them. Unjury and the previous web site I mention both sell an unflavored blend that can be added to a drink of your choice you do like. I currently drink Pure Protein, Frosty chocolate. I only mix in 4ozs of Water and have never mixed mine in milk, I also use there vanilla flavor and add peanut butter powder or fruits and SF syrups. I do drink Protein Drinks but only on the days I lift weights or work out at the gym.

I did 1000 calories of solid food from the time I started mushies. My dr doesn't advocate protien shakes as he feels you do not get the full feeling and they are empty calories so I didn't do them. Others will disagree which is fine...so check with the dr,

I used my droid phone with calorie counter by fatsecret.com to track every calorie I put in my mouth to make sure I never went over my allotment. My guidlene daily was three meals a day of 3 oz protien, 1/2 c veggie and 1/4 c starch. I was also allowed 2 Snacks one which was usually a fruit.< /p>

I like many of these othes use myfitnesspal. Many things you would eat are already on there, but if you like to cook like me you can plug your own recipes in there and get the calorie count save it and add it whenever you need to. This really opened my eyes to how calorie loaded some of my recipes were so I played with ingredients until I got it down.

These programs make counting easy- there are apps for android and iPhone's so you can track anywhere anytime.

I would consider foods high in sugar and or fat empty calories. I would look for foods with high vitamin/nutrients per calorie.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
