January 2013 Bandsters Unite

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies. Alice...I'm one step closer to getting to the UK. Turns out my hips were worse than my knees but I lost enough weight six months post op to get hip replacement surgery. I'm just over three months post op on the hips and hoping to get over there if not this year, than maybe next. My sister is working on a project that will take her to London at least once a year so I'm hoping to take advantage of that.

I just celebrated my bandiversary last week and you can see by my ticker, it's been a successful weight loss journey. I'm working now on making sure I continue maintaining at this point. It's not always easy...the head hunger is still there and old habits die hard. I hope to be able to Celebrate many successful bandiversaries in the future.

Glad to see you are both doing well. Not sure if there are any other January 2013 bandsters still on this forum but I know I'm on here all the time...it really helps me to stay motivated and I post my experience hoping to help calm the fears of those just starting out. Congrats again to you both.

Hellooooo glad to hear you doing great specially when you had so much on your plate at same time with the hip surgery. Let me know when you are in uk!!! Also yeah you are right, obesity is a disease, it is an addiction!! I still to this date fight head hunger and overeat! Is a constant battle however I know I don't wanna go back there and always know to keep on track, and this website certainly helps!xx

Hello fellow Bandsters. This is my one year update one day late. I was banded January 21st, 2013. I was 326 pounds. I went to the surgeon today and my official weight is 235. 91 pounds in a year makes me very happy. Not only was it my Bandiverary but I had a job interview and nailed it. I will be starting work Jan 27th or Feb 3rd just waiting for the call. I have been on disability since Jan 2012 and am more then ready to get back in the work force. I am 47 years old and feel I am in better shape then I have been since my late 20's. My journey has been complication free. I wish all banded would have it as easy as I have. That is not to say I haven't had to do the work because I have. I think about everything I eat and I exercise. The biggest change in my diet is I as a rule don't eat bread, potatoes, Pasta or rice. Not to say never but very far and few. As long as I follow the rules I have no problems. I LOVE LOVE LOVE MY BAND

Hello all! I hit my 1 year mark on January 16. I had lost almost 60 lbs and was about only 20lbs from my goal of 150. When, surprise! I learned that I am pregnant with a little boy who is due in June. I am glad I have the band to keep me from wolfing food down like I did when I was pregnant with my 12 year old. I am not following the best diet right now, but I am gaining weight at a good slow pace and plan to get back on the wagon after he arrives. I wish you all the best out there.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
